i'd recommend to play the song when it's mentioned, obviously you don't have to if you don't want to, but i think it'll make the reading better :)

JAYDEN WAS never a fan of funerals. yet, she found herself attending to too many of them throughout the course of her life. when she was young, she attended two of her cousins funerals. not to count, her mother's when she was 14. it was safe to say, she despised them with every inch of her body.

all the people in black. relatives crying, brothers and sisters trying to look tough when they really want is to break down and shed the tears they've been holding back. the bad food and sad music. it was definitely not a cheerful event to show up on, and jayden really questioned wether she were to attend or not. after all, her and her father were never really close. scratch that, they weren't close at all. they barely talked and he always made it clear he had no interest in being a part of her life and after a while, jayden was okay with that.

it was ethan who convinced her to go and who talked her out of bringing gracie along, since the funeral was being held in L.A and fairly close to where gracie's apartment was. he claimed it would just put the girl in an awkward and unwanted situation and that, if she wanted, she should just go to gracie's place after the ceremony.

the last day of their trip was surely the worst last day of a trip anyone of their group ever had. with the devastating -and unexpected- news that the twins' father had died, the incident with min-jun, olivia and jayden at the sea had been forgotten and the group was completely focused in showing their support and helping the twins cope with the unwanted grief they felt. they both didn't want to care about their father's death, but unfortunately he was still a member of their family and it still hurt like a bitch to know that he was gone forever.

jayden's leg bounced up and down as she eyed the cup of whiskey intently, not bothering to look up at distant family members and their sorrows. by her side, ethan sat, engaged in a conversation with their aunt michaela, one where jayden wasn't at all interested in participating. she was too busy staring into space, her mind clouded with thoughts, her chest burning in an agonizing grief and sadness. she hated feeling like that for someone who didn't deserve it.
