chapter 14 | cottage

"Anastasia, I like you." Alex breathed out.

I stared at him, mouth fully agape. I was speechless.

He turned away, a pained expression overtook his face.

"Alex, I like you. A lot. But not in that way." I pleaded with him, feeling completely guilty.

He was silent for awhile. He was probably thinking of something to say.

He then turned to me and smiled, "that's okay. Ill just wait till you fall in love with me before saying it again."

*

I spaced out completely, trying to recall the events that happened the previous night.

Ill just wait till you fall in love with me before saying it again.

Replayed through my mind numerous times.

I felt utterly horrible for turning him down. I mean, I loved him a lot.

He was so sweet and understands me in ways never thought possible.

He doesn't deserve to wait for me. Or anyone in that matter.

I didn't notice how spaced out I was till I felt a burn on my back.

I winced in pain and quickly turned the shower off.

I sighed and decided I should get ready for school.

-

A lot of things happened since then.

Alex was more, what's the word? Hap- no. Giddy as you can say?

I guess ever since he confessed, he's been more open to me. We've been hanging out a lot lately.

Like he never wants to leave my side. I dont know.

Oh, Candyce has a new boyfriend. His name is James. Quarterback of the varsity football team.

Light brown hair, tall build, and light blue eyes.

Talk of the school, winning over girls non existing hearts. (Lol)

People and their hormones, I swear.

They seem cute together I guess. I just wished me and Candyce could get some us time.

She always hangs around James so I rarely see her.

On the lines of what's been happening since then, me and Jake have gotten somewhat closer together.

Alex isn't too fond of him though. He gets a bit worked up when Jake is around me. He kind of growls at him. Its odd.

Its also a tad bit weird. I mean, it isn't like I'm dating Jake.

But Jake is nice. Dirty blonde hair, chocolate brown eyes, and a bit of a leaner build. Average build as you can say.

Though he's sweet, he could never replace Alex. Alex will always be my #1 goof ball.

I was snapped out into reality as I felt a wet slimy object being thrown on my face. Okay, more like being spit at my face.

It was a spit ball.

I grimaced at to culprit as I turned around to face them.

A group of idiots laughed as if it was the funniest thing ever.

I rolled my eyes at them.

Losers.

I turned to the front and rested my hand on the palm of my hand. I stared out the window, glaring at the birds soaring through the sky.
