HOLY CHRIST ON A CRUMPET

I have been gone for such a long time.

I am genuinely so sorry.

Thank you guys so much for being patient and sticking with my stories! I appreciate it a lot. I have been gone literally almost a half a year. I apologize for being absent for so long, Senior year has been crazy. With Football, Marching and Jazz Band, and Wrestling, I have been strapped for time pretty much all year. Not an excuse, but in the midst of everything going on I just simply forgot about these stories. I'm sorry to those that have been waiting.

Now that I'm finally back, please enjoy!

(Y/N) begrudgingly walked towards the first kettle, with Mort tailing behind him.

(Y/N): I still don't understand why I'm going alone, but whatever.

He shot off the lid and readied himself on the grate, before turning into a squid and diving in.

He landed in a room, which almost felt like a giant glass box. He walked forward and glanced around, before hearing a buzzing noise.

Callie: ...Do you hear something?

Another buzzing sound went off, followed by a voice saying "activated".

It then continued through its analysis.

???: <<System check... OK.>>
<<Authentication... All systems nominal.>>

<<Commencing biometric scan.>>

(Y/N): Wait, what??

???: <<Scan complete... No matches found!>>
<<Commencing registration sequence.>>

(Y/N): Am I in danger?

???: ...Bzzzt... ...Vrrrzt... Beep... BEEP!

It's voice suddenly changed to one that sounded much more natural.

???: Good day. My name is O.R.C.A. I am what you might call a... Navigation system... For Alterna citizens.

Callie: Woah! Where's that voice coming from?

ORCA: Welcome to Alterna, citizen. Please enter your identification to proceed.

Marie: Ugh, it's like setting up a phone for the first time. I guess just follow the instructions, Agent 3.

ORCA: Processing... Processing... Processing... DING! Your name has been accepted. Thank you for registering, Agent 3.

Marie: Cool, looks like it's official... Agent 3.

(Y/N): Yeah, yeah, let's just hope this thing likes me.

ORCA: My circuits are designed to measure your intellectual and physical prowess as demonstrated by your ability to complete missions throughout Alterna. In each mission, you must reach a goal mechanism or complete an objective. Extraordinary citizens will complete many missions and receive many Power Eggs!

(Y/N): This sounds a lot like that one game...

Callie: What?

(Y/N): The one with the all the portals,  and the false cake.

Marie: You mean... Portal.

(Y/N): No, Marie, there are multiple portals.

Marie: That's not what I meant-

(Y/N): A singular portal wouldn't even work cuz there has to be an in-feed and out-feed for teleportation to work.

Marie: I meant the game is literally just called Portal.
