A reverse Cinderella AU with a chimney sweep/cleaner?
He is cleaning the Palace chimneys and the Princess is actually friendly to him and wanting to know how she can make things better for the working class, but her father bans the chimney fella since he doesn't want her talking or being friendly to Peasants, and wants to force her to marry a rich gentleman/prince as soon as possible so he holds a ball for the Princess which the man, with the help of some friends (or the Pixie Godfather maybe?) infiltrates.
The Princess's great-great grandmother could possibly be Cinderella so there are vague mentions to peasantry having previously married into the royal family but this is hushed up but the current royalty.
