"Good morning class! " Mrs. Stanley said as she walked into the room.
You know what was weird about today? Zoey wasn't in class when the bell rang. Even weirder, Tristan was talking to Lola. I wonder what she's up to. Maybe we should be worrying about Tristan?
Mrs. Stanley was blah blahing away when Zoey finally arrived in class.
"You're late Miss Scarlette," Mrs. Stanley said before Zoey attempted to walk to her desk. " Miss Scarlette!"
Zoey turned around, "Sorry I don't have a pass," Zoey responded once she realized what Mrs. Stanley wanted.
"What did you expect? She can't afford a house. How do you expect her to afford a car? Or even a watch. How will Zoey know if she's running late," Lola interjected as she smiled in victory. The class started laughing.
"Lola! " Mrs. Stanley exclaimed. She motioned for the class to calm down. I'm surprised Zoey hadn't bolted out of the class.
Zoey not wanting to cause anymore drama replied, "It's okay Mrs. Stanley."
It seems like Zoey has lost her fierceness. You could tell that Zoey just wanted to roll up into a ball and just disappear.
Mrs. Stanley motioned for Zoey to come towards her desk. "I know you've been having a hard time lately," Mrs. Stanley said low so that the other students couldn't hear. "Next time you get detention Miss Scarlette."
Zoey smiled gratefully at Mrs. Stanley, "Thank you. "
Mrs. Stanley motioned for her to take a seat.
As Zoey walked down to her desk, she noticed Lola took her seat. As she passed Lola, Lola put her foot out to make Zoey fall. Lola began laughing. Tristan got up from his seat and attempted to help Zoey pick up her things.
Tristan trying to see if Zoey was fine asked, "You alright?"
Zoey shrugging things off just responded, "I just dropped my things. I'll be alright."
"Aren't they cute? Lord Loser and his Lady. I heard about you guys going to prom. I didn't think you could afford it. I guess dresses are easy to buy on lay away," Lola said aloud in a mocking voice. She wanted to make Zoey feel little as possible. This was payback for everything.
Tristan tired of hearing Lola got up and said, "You all talk about how horrible Zoey was. You don't even realize that you are the same way."
Lola confused and upset that someone would try to same something replied, "Why are you defending her? She bullied you."
"She's my girlfriend and I love her. She apologized for what she did. I've been watching this whole time. I see everything. I guess that's one of the advantages of being invisible. You guys just need to lay off," Tristan said before sitting back down. Zoey looked at Tristan and smiled slightly as to say thank you.
This is now or never Zoey. Where's the queen bitch we all knew. Zoey looked at her locket. I guess she was trying to channel her dead mom for some strength to finally get up. She walked to the front of the room.
This is going to be good. This showdown will be all over social media. Zoey looked around the room and took a deep breathe.
"I am sorry," Zoey said. Did I hear that right? Was she actually apologizing to everyone? "I truly am. I didn't realize how much I hurt a lot of you. I feel horrible for bullying you."
Lola was also in disbelief. She didn't believe it for a moment that Zoey Scarlette would be sorry," When has Zoey Scarlette ever regretted doing anything?"
"I am sorry Lola. What I did was horrible. I hope you can forgive me. I'm sorry for undermining you Claire. I know that I can be a good person. I don't need to have money to be happy. That's all I have to say," Zoey replied. She was so nervous to see what her classmates would say. She looked around with pleading eyes for someone to respond.
"I think she's being serious,"'Claire finally said. " I forgive you Zoey. I think you should, too, Lola."
" If this isn't a joke then I guess I do forgive you," Lola responded reluctantly. " To make sure all the bad blood we have is gone, come with us to the after prom party. It will be tots fun."
" I don't..." Zoey was able to say before Tristan interrupted her.
" We'll be there," Tristan interjected.
Zoey just smiled and walked back to her seat. She felt weird. Like something was happening that she didn't know about. She looked at Tristan and he smiled at her. Maybe she was just overreacting.
Zoey and Claire looked at her. They gave her slight smile. Lola passed her a piece of notebook paper.
'Zoho ( I mean Zoey. Sorry used to calling you this all the times since you stabbed me in the back. No hard feelings anymore),
I'm so happy this rivalry is over! Can't wait to finally be besties. Will text you the details of the after party. Would have texted you this but I tots didn't want all your cell data to run out.
Love,
Lilbitch❤️😘'" What did it say?" Tristan asked. Zoey handed him the note.
" Lola's way of moving on from our problem," Zoey replied.
Maybe things will be better for Zoey now. She hoped so. I guess it wasn't too late to apologize, but something is telling me that the prom and after prom party will get juicy. After all, things aren't always what they seem. If you ask me, someone is not being honest. Zoey is so desperate to be in the in crowd that she is willing to trust anyone.
