"I got detention because of you. I hope your happy," Alex said, his hands were on his hips and he was looking down at the other boy.
"You tempted me," came the lazy gruff reply.
"But I told you Lucas that I almost got caught twice. I knew that third time would be bad luck," Alex huffed and plopped down right next to Lucas under the tree shade.
"It's just detention. I didn't realize that you would freaking react this way. Sorry, princess." Lucas said sarcastically. He felt his chest get hit, but not hard enough to get the wind knocked out of him or bruised.
"I'm no princess," Alex grumbled.
"You act like one. That wasn't even a hard hit."
"I wasn't trying to hurt you, idiot. Just a light tap," Alex explained and a grin broke out on Lucas's face.
"I'd tap that," Lucas replied looking at Alex, "Just tap that all the way." He watched Alex grow embarrassed and look away at something else. Lucas smirked and closed his eyes blissfully. It was nice to tease him, especially if he got a reaction like this.
"Just remember what I say next time, please? And when are you going to enroll? You should probably do that soon..." Lucas scoffed and sighed loudly.
"Yeah, okay I'll get that taken care of soon." he closed his eyes while Alex hummed in response. Then everything went silent. Neither of the boys spoke to each other. They didn't really have to because both were comfortable with the silence. That was until Lucas's phone started to blare in his pocket.
"Hello?" Lucas asked the other person on the line.
"Lucas?! Is that really you?! I can't believe it! I tried to call your house phone, but no one picked up until your mom did and she said you weren't there no more. Oh it's good to hear your voice again, Luc!" a high pitched voice screamed on the other line.
"Celia? Is that you?" he heard a gasp from the other line.
"Luc! Of course it's me! I can't believe you don't remember the voice of your girlfriend! You should be ashamed," Lucas scoffed
"Do you actually need something?"
"No, I was just...Did you really leave?" Celia whispered. Lucas sighed in response and didn't say anything back for a moment or two
"Yeah, my father took me to America to live with that woman and.. her son," in the corner of his eye he saw Alex flinch a little. He smiled a little and listened for Celia to respond again.
"A son? You didn't mention that," she trailed a little.
"Yeah, but he seems pretty cool."
"I doubt that, but okay...You know Luc I really love you right? I miss you so much and I want you to come back. You got to come back to me okay Lucas? I really love you..." Lucas stayed silent and listned to her even breathing.
"I...I can't come back...not yet."
"What? What do you mean you can't come back yet?" her voice sounded heartbroken and Lucas could tell she was about to cry.
"Not until I turn eighteen. That's when I'll come back, I promise, but until then you'll have to wait."
"Do you really love me Luc?"
"Of course," came his mediate response
"Say it then. Tell me you love me, I need to know. You never once told me that you did. I always said it first and you never said it back. Please Luc," Celia cried on the other line.
"....I love you Celia. I'll come back, I promise," Lucas hesitated when he said those three words. He didn't even know if he meant them, but if it was for her then he would figure it out later.
"I'll hold you up to that Luc...don't fall in love with other pretty girls. Alright, well I got to go. I'll call you later. Bye Lucas, I love you."
"Bye Celia," and he hung up without saying those three words back. Lucas sighed and banged his head against the tree. He didn't even know if he would actually leave here when he finally turned eighteen. It would take a lot of money, which he had barley any of. God damn it, what the hell is he supposed to do now?
"Uh, Lucas?" he mentally cursed. He forgot Alex was here with him, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah but I..."
"You don't really know if you love her or not right?" Lucas nodded her head.
"I said it but I didn't feel anything...I gave her false hope...I should probably break it off with her soon."
"How long were you two together?"
"About two years," Alex gasped in response.
"And you never told her you loved her?" Lucas shook his head and banged it on the tree again. "Maybe...maybe you guys should break up? I mean, not to offened you anything, but it's like you said...You're giving her false hope."
" I know...maybe I should, but just not today. I still have to think about it..." Lucas trailed off. He began to fall to the side, his head now resting on Alex's thigh.
"Wha-What are you-"
"Shh...just let me please. I'm just tired," Lucas said, his eyes closing just a little bit. Lucas could feel Alex tense a little more, before he let out a sight and relaxed. Lucas felt a hand running through his hair giving him more comfort than he really desired for, but he didn't stop it. He just didn't have the energy to.
Alex ran his hand through the ebony locks of the boy on his lap. The even breathing of the boy made Alex smile a little to himself. As of right now, Lucas seemed like a giant cat. He had seen Lucas's vulnerable side again too. He didn't know whether he loved that girl or not. And when Lucas said that he was cool, it made Alex happy for no reason. Such a strange thing, he thought. He tilted his head back on the tree. He breathed steadily in and out in and out, for quite some while.
Somehow, he was getting tired too. He blamed it on Lucas cause he was immobilized at the moment. He laughed quietly and his eyes began to flutter close...His hand that was running through Lucas's hair eventually stopped. And anyone that would pass by would have thought they were having sweet dreams because of the smile on both of their faces wouldn't cease.
