It's been two weeks. Two weeks. That was a long time to go without talking to someone in the same house. And in reality, it just made Lucas angrier and angrier each day. He felt like he was actually going crazy. Alex wouldn't even so much as look at him, let alone be in the same room. Lucas didn't even know if Alex was eating properly. He never saw him come down to get food or water. He never heard Alex's door open or footsteps down the stairs. It was like he wasn't even there. Lucas even debated asking one of Alex's friends to find out. And he was going to, once he went back to school. He's been missing for about three days. Lucas was too upset to do anything.
He didn't want to feel what he was feeling now. About a week ago he discovered his new profound feelings for Alex. That was the reason why he kissed him. That was the cause of all his thoughts. He wanted to ignore that. Lucas had ignored everything that was thrown at him so far. Why was this any different? He ignored his father's criticism, the feeling of loneliness. Especially now, when the feeling was so great and welling up inside him like it would just overflow everything. It was terrible, he hated it.
His phone rang suddenly, causing him to snap out of his thoughts. He looked at the caller I.D. and sighed. Lucas wasn't in the mood to talk to Celia at all. He grabbed his phone and tossed it on the floor, not really caring if it broke or the screen cracked. He had money, so he could probably get a new one. But, that wasn't the thing that bothered him though. He wanted to break up with Celia. Lucas didn't want to keep leading her on and he couldn't say those three magic words to her either. He felt bad, but he knew that this was the only way. He couldn't have this relationship with her anymore. His phone stopped ringing and a little thing chimed as a notification.
He eyed it and rolled his eyes. It was a voicemail. Lucas really didn't want to hear Celia's annoying voice on the other line asking when he was going to come home or saying if he loves her. She would probably ask me if I'm cheating on her, he thought. I guess having feelings for someone else actually counts doesn't it? That would've been a good time to bring it up. Curiousity got to him again as he picked up his phone off the floor. The voicemail was about ten minutes long. Celia had a hell of a lot to say.
"Lucas," the voice breathed on the other end making his pause to see if he heard right. This voice was soft, caring as it had been all those years ago and even today. His missed his mother so much, it hurt just to think about her. "Celia visited me today and I thought it was a good idea to call you. To check up on you and to tell you. . . some news. I should have guessed you wouldn't have picked up knowing that it was her. But, it makes it easier on me not hearing your voice. Lucas, even though I miss you, I. . . I don't want you to come back here. I knew your plan of coming here again when you're turning eighteen and everything, but you can't. I don't want you. . .here. You cause me so much stress and just the thought of you out in the streets at night is terrible. You smoke and get piercings and I just can't deal with that. I know. . . I know that you father doesn't want you here. I don't either. Stay there, where you are. Get a new life. Do something. Find Happiness. I love you, Lucas. Don't you ever forget that, but don't come home. You're home is there now. Good-bye."
He. . . he didn't even know what to say. The only person in his life that truly loved him just said that they didn't want him. His mother didn't want him. He couldn't go home now. It was out of the question. Tears started to form in his eyes and he didn't care. This was one of the moments he would truly cry about. And he did. He made a chocking sound in the back of his throat every once in a while, but he wouldn't scream or wail. Lucas wasn't even angry at his mother. He understood where she was coming from. He knew that she was always worried about him being out late, doing things he wasn't supposed to, but it was all to defy his father and now look where it got him. This. . . this was his new home. He would have to call it home, since he didn't have one anymore. This place replaced the other one in London.
