~~~~~~~~~~When the bell rang for the final time again, Alex grew antsy. It wasn't that long ago since the incident with Lucas. He couldn't blame him walking out like that. Alex would do the same if he was him. Sam was oblivious too which irritated him , but he wouldn't yell at Sam. He wasn't the brightest person. Alex sighed and continued eating in silence while the others came.
Tracy came after a little while and sat down next to him. Tommy came next and then Casca sat down next to Sam. Even though it was rude, Alex always wondered how Sam got such a beautiful girl like her. He was a player and mostly every girl likes him, then he met Casca. It was sweet really. They've been dating for a while and he hasn't even looked at another girl besides her. Alex smiled to himself as he thought about it. It would be nice to have the same relationship that they had.
"Alex, who was that with you?" Alex blinked and looked next to him at Tracy.
"Huh?" he asked dumbly and Tracy rolled her eyes.
"Who was that with you? That black haired boy. Is he new?"
"Oh! Yeah, that's Lucas. He's the guy my mom's taking care of for a little while. Well, now I have to take care of him because she just left...He has many issues, Tracy and probably needs therapy. I can't help but feel terrible," he told her. Tracy laid a comforting hand on his shoulder. Alex looked at her a little grateful, but he caught some glint in her eyes that made his eyes narrow.
"What?" she asked.
"That look...what were you thinking?" Tracy smiled innocently and shrugged.
"Oh, nothing much really," she drawled, "You just seem to care for him a lot even though it's been a day or two." Alex scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Yeah right," Tracy laughed at his response and started to eat her lunch. Alex started eating too once she didn't say anything back to him. He was left with his thoughts. The first thing he would have to worry about with Lucas is talking about therapy for him or some type of anger management class. Though Alex wasn't even sure if his anger was really a problem. Oh, well, when he thought about the state of his room this morning...He couldn't help, but chuckle nervously at the thought. Anger management it was. How would he bring it up to him? Alex doubted he could just start a conversation saying, "So you know those anger issues you have? How about you to to some anger management? I'm sure it's fine." He would probably get punched in the face. Alex was pretty sure that Lucas wouldn't follow "you can hit a person with glasses rule." He didn't even know if Lucas was okay at the moment.
Alex sighed and looked toward the door that Lucas left through. Maybe he should check on him and make sure he was okay. No, that would make him out as some type of worry wort. Lucas probably wanted to be alone right now instead of bugged by Alex. Lucas already had to deal with him at home, Alex thought, he wouldn't want to deal with him here. He didn't even realized he sighed again until Tracy called him out.
"Dude, what's up with you? It's not like you to be like..." she gestured towards him and scanned her chocolate brown eyes up and down his body, "this."
"I don't know," he mumbled in return. Tracy suddenly grinned once she saw the look in his eyes.
"You're worried, huh? I don't blame you. You're probably going to be close to him soon, I know it." Alex didn't respond just looked at her. And he didn't have to. He knew she could see it in his eyes and it was probably all over his face. Alex grimaced at the thought. He was too easy to read and he knew it, but it still irritating. He went to eat something else off his tray, but he didn't have an appetite anymore. He started to think more. What was going on in Lucas' head? Alex never knew, but he wanted to. He wanted to understand Lucas.
Raging thoughts swarmed Lucas' head once he was out of the cafeteria. That guy wanted his father?! The guy that made his life a living hell because he was disobedient. Lucas scoffed, he can have him, he thought, what use is my father to me? He didn't need him at all. That's the whole point. The only person Lucas needed in his life was his mother. Not even Celia could do anything for him at the moment. Hell, he wasn't even sure he loved her. Those words... I love you were hallow to him. They didn't hold such meanings that they were intended for. Yet, Lucas thought about the other night when he and Alex were having a good time. He had felt something, but he wasn't entirely sure what.
"Stupid," he mumbled bitterly, "this is all a bunch of crap." Like everything else in his life. Just a bunch of crap he had to deal with always. Then he started to wonder if everything will get better. He would start to feel something for Celia and go back to her and his mother. His father would be someone he could look up to even though it was a little to late. Fifteen years to late to be exact, but did that really matter? Not really, he doubted his father could change the way he was. No one could just change, Lucas knew that. Lucas could probably change, but it'll take a while. He guessed if he really wanted to he could. Not like he would do it.
That's when the bell rang suddenly, and he didn't even realize how long he was standing there for. It could've been for ten minutes or even five. Times passes by quickly when you're thinking. Lucas made his way back to his classroom slowly. He didn't feel like being here anymore. Honestly, he just wanted to go into his room and sleep. He was tired. Lucas just wanted to go away and he knew he could do that. Skipping school just sounded like a great idea and he was pretty sure that no one would miss him.
Smirking, he suddenly felt better. He would text Alex first and then go. Wait... Alex wasn't his mother or caretaker. Why should Lucas care if Alex knew? He sighed and navigated his to the front of the school. He was outside in less than five minutes and it felt great. He would go to school some other time. Today just wasn't his day.
