Lucas was having a inner war with himself. He had asked the same question over and over in his head:
Just how did this happen?
Lucas didn't know when it started or maybe this was because he got shaken a little by Alex. He had a girlfriend that loved him dearly. He even promised to go back to her once he turned eighteen, but then why was his heart beating widely in his chest. That small nervous kid only smiled! It wasn't like Alex kissed him on the cheek or something. Just the thought of that made Lucas' whole body heat up even more. At least nothing came up, he thought, that would have been even worse. And it probably would have. That would just prove the Lucas might actually have something for Alex.
"Lucas? Are you okay?" Alex popped up right in front of him like magic, which startled the shit out of Lucas.
"Wah?! What the hell Alexander! When did you-"
"I was here for awhile. Once I called the pizza place I noticed you weren't out there still so I came back in here, and sure enough here you are! But I wonder...why's your face so red? Do you have a fever?" Lucas shook his had back and forth vigorously.
"N-No! I don't...I was just thinking about something and then yeah.." Lucas forced out and Alex started to laugh loudly.
"Okay okay, but come on. Like I said, I already ordered the pizza; now we just have to pick a movie!" Alex said and tugged on Lucas' arm. Lucas let himself be dragged away by the smaller boy. What he didn't realize that Alex would actually push him on the couch. That somehow made his mind run a little wild to his liking. "Lucas! You're doing it again!"
"Huh? Doing what?" he asked.
"Zoning out!" Alex exclaimed then huffed out a breath,"you gotta pick the movie, stupid!" Lucas laughed and grabbed the remote from the coffee table. He would think about his inner war later when he was alone. Now wasn't a really good time since he was with Alex. But...his mind made him go back to when Celia and him first started to date...
It was cold out. Winter time always was and Lucas didn't really feel like going out on a date at this time. He was bundled up with his scarf wrapped around almost half his face, his big puffy jacket and gloves on his hand. He was meeting her at the usual cafe she always went to when it was cold out like this. For a second, he thought about bailing but he didn't want to go to school only to have Celia chop off his head. The second thought he would go inside to at least warm up a bit, but that thought got interrupted because she was a couple feet away from him. Lucas had to say that she was actually really beautiful. Normally, he wouldn't really bother with a girl like her, but she was his best friend before she had asked him out or well, confessed that she liked him.
At first, he had been shocked and he mentally scolded himself because he never noticed while many others did. Though, something in him just didn't want to say no to her so he agreed. And right now, he didn't even know that he made the right choice or not. He couldn't think about that now, only after will he come up with a conclusion on whether or no to keep dating.
"Are you ready to go inside?" she had asked sweetly.
"Hell yeah! I think I might get frost bite if we don't get inside soon!" Lucas said dramatically. She laughed which always made Lucas think of honey. That's kinda what her laughter was. Thick and sweet. He smiled at her and took her hand in his to lead them both inside. The cafe was warm, actually a little too warm because Lucas had to take off his jacket and gloves. He kept his scarf on for many reasons, but the main one was that he has a big black and blue bruise on his cheek. Thankfully, Celia didn't seem to care. She was too busy taking off her own winter stuff. When she sat down again the only thing she was wearing was her white sweater. Her big jacket and gloves were on the other chair next to her, neatly folded. Her light brown hair was cascaded down her shoulders and her dark brown eyes studied him like he was studying her at the moment.
