"You're not eating lunch, Genie?" Bill asked as he and Gustav sat their trays down before taking their seats. I looked up and shook my head. "No, I'm not hungry."

"Okay," He said, sounding unsure. "You can take some of mine if you change your mind." I smiled at the offer and thanked him. "Tell me more about your family. I love hearing about your life,"

"You're too sweet," I said with a soft chuckle. "My family are all back in France, I haven't seen any of them since we left. I still talk to them now and then, mainly my grandparents from my mom's side."

"That sucks. I'm such a grandma's boy. Tom makes fun of me for it but he's just mad he's not her favorite." Bill said with a proud smile and I laughed. I always wished I had the opportunity to be close to my grandparents.

"Tell me about your guys' families. Enough about me." I said as I looked at both Bill and Gustav. "Nothing too extreme. Our parents divorced when we turned six so we went to live with our mom. She remarried when we turned nine. I don't talk to my real dad anymore, Tom does now and then."

"Do you like your stepdad?" I asked and Bill nodded with the spoon in his mouth. "How about you, Gustav?" I said as I turned my head to look at him.

"Gustav's older sister took the spotlight growing up," Bill answered for him. "Yeah," Gustav said awkwardly. "I could pretty much get away with anything since they were always so caught up in the trouble she was causing."

"Ugh, older sisters, they're the worst," I said sarcastically and Gustav sent me a kind smile. Bill laughed loudly at my joke. "Get it, because she's an older sister!"

"Wow, Bill, did you figure that one out all by yourself?" Gustav teased and Bill rolled his eyes before flipping him off.

"What about your friend Georg? What's up with him?" I asked to diffuse the slight tension. "Oh, Mr. Listing. He's kind of in the same boat as Gus, except his parents only dedicated their time to their work and not their only child."

"So, as you can imagine, Georg has been quite rebellious over the years and completely rubbing off on Tom," Bill rolled his eyes again. "He's the oldest of all of us and he'll be graduating by the end of this year. At least that is the plan. He was already held back once. I'll give him credit though, he's cleaned up his act a bit since last year."

"He's a very good friend, though. Very loyal and very trustworthy. He gets along well with everyone." Gustav finished and I softly smiled. "You guys sound like really good people. I'm glad I met you."

"We could say the same about you," Bill said with a smile. "I haven't been able to make any solid friends with all the moving around, so I'm surprised you think so."

"I know a good person when I see one, and you're one of the good ones," Bill spoke softly before taking another bite of his food. "You don't come across those here. Everyone has a vendetta against everyone. They're all in little groups and never associate with anyone outside of it for petty reasons. This person did this to this person so we don't like them, blah, blah, blah. Complete drama."

"Bill, that's exactly how we are," Gustav pointed out with laughter. "Okay, but that's because we're too cool for everyone."

"I've noticed you and Tom don't interact much in school," I pointed out. "Why would we? I get enough of him at home. Plus, we're on two different social levels. He hangs out with the popular people and Georg, meanwhile I hang out with this dude," Bill said as he pointed over at Gustav.

"I thought you loved me," Gustav pretended to be offended. "And that I do, honey," Bill assured him with sarcasm and they both began laughing. "But, no, people weren't always so nice to me growing up, and hell, some of them still aren't."
