CHAPTER 41

ANICA WAS ALL DUMBFOUNDED. She's outside the burning house, sitting in the road while letting her tears continuously drop from her eyes. Bylur went inside the house and reminded her not to follow. She wanted to but she couldn't collect her strength to stand up. She's there in front of the burning house, hugging herself in fear— in fear of losing Dolion. She's trying to be positive but seeing the scene of the burning house where Dolion is, makes her want to stop breathing.

“Anica!” the echoing voice calling her name continuously.

“Anica!” it was three voices. Three voices that continuous to echo. Those voice wants her to snap out and telling her to stand up but she can't. A minute later, someone grabbed her and a warm hug embraced her. It wasn't just two arms of one person, but 6 arms are were there, protecting her.

“Anica, snap out of it!” sigaw ni Jayla. Anica burst into tears realizing that it was her friends— her brother and sisters. Jairus who was the one who grabbed her and he slightly pushed her away to look at her.

“Andito na kami. Huwag ka mag-alala.” sambit ni Jairus at napaikbi si Anica.

“S-Si Dolion... S-Si Dolion n-nasa loob. N-Nasa sa loob si Dolion, Jai. 'Di k-ko alam gagawin ko. Si D-Dolion nasa l-loob!” iyak pa lalo ni Anica at hindi alam ang gagawin. Pabaling-baling sya at tumitingin sa nasusunog bahay.

“Sshhh! Nic, kumalma ka.” Jairus tried to make her calm down but she cried even more.

“H-Hindi ko alam! H-Hindi ko a-alam gagawin ko kung m-mawawala si D-Dolion, 'di k-ko kakayanin.” iyak n'ya lalo at agad namang niyakap ni Jairus ito upang mapakalma si Anica. As the clock is ticking, the seconds were running, the minutes were wasted, Anica is losing hope. The fire is eating the whole house.

Anica faced the house and there she saw a silhouette of three men walking towards outside the house that's on fire.

“Dolion!” sigaw ni Anica at tumakbo palapit sa bulto ng tatlong lalaking naglalakad palabas. As she was getting near, she's able to confirm that it was Dolion and the others.

“Nic!” sigaw ng tatlo at sinundan si Anica.

Anica was running while crying. She was nervous and happy at the same time, seeing that Dolion is alive! She stumbled for two times as she was running towards them.

“Dolion!” she exclaimed when she was just a meter away from him. She fell on her knees but he was quick on catching her.

“D-Dolion! B-Buti naman!” iyak n'ya at bahagyang niyakap ang lalaki. She burst into tears when he hugged her back tightly.

“Did I make you worried?” he asked and Anica nodded multiple times.

“I — I t-thought I w-was going to l-lose you!” she cried even more. Dolion pats her head as he smiled.

“I told you, baby. I make everything possible.” he hissed as he kissed her forehead. Anica looked at him with those teary eyes and smiled despite those flowing tears.

“You are really amazing.” she said and chuckled. Dolion smiled widely as he caresses her hair. He wanted to kiss her forehead once again but she suddenly faint. Lucky that Dolion and Jairus was quick, they were able to catch her in the right time.

THEY BROUGHT ANICA IN the nearest hospital. Bylur and Dolion was there also, being treated. Mithran went off when he was able to bring them inside.

“You're still strong despite you became mortal now.” saad ni Dolion nang makaalis na ang nurse na naggamot sa mga sugat niya.

“Yeah! Thankfully, my body still remember it's endurance and strength. It helps me protect my wife and children. Also, I can help with problems like this. Kahit hindi gaano malaki ang tulong ko pero kung papaano'y may natutulong parin.” sagot naman ni Bylur at tumayo na.

“Kailangan ko na umalis. Naghihintay sakin ang asawa ko.” pagpapaalam ni Bylur.

“Sige! Mag-ingat ka.” bilin naman ni Dolion at agad namang umalis si Bylur. Dolion sighed and sat down in one of the hospital bed. A nurse suddenly barge in and was looking for something — or someone.

“Asan po 'yong kasama n'yo rito, Sir?” tanong ng nurse.

“Ah, iyon ba? Umalis na.” mahinahon namang sagot ni Dolion.

“Pero hindi ko pa s'ya nagagamot.” saad ng nurse at ngumiti si Dolion.

“'Wag ka mag-alala. Hindi n'ya ikakamatay iyon.” biro pa nito at napatingin sa kanya ang nurse na para bang may sasabihin ito.

“Ay oo nga pala, Sir.” saad nito.

“Gising na po iyong kasama n'yong babae na walang malay kanina.” balita nito at agad s'yang napatayo. Dolion has a bruise in his right side of his stomach so, he felt the stiffness of it when he suddenly stood up.

“Ah!” daing n'ya.

“Ayos ka lang ba, Sir? Tulungan na kita.” saad ng nurse.

“Huwag na. Ayos lang ako.” Dolion answered and started to walk to Anica's cubicle. When he was there, Anica was already sitting in the bed talking with her friends.

“Dolion...” mahinhing tawag ni Anica nang makita si Dolion na nakatingin sa kanila.

“Hey!” he softly said and went closer.

“Pwede ba kami mag-usap ni Dolion, na kami lang muna?” tanong ni Anica sa tatlo na tinanguan naman nito.

“Sige. Lalabas muna kami, bibili nalang din kami ng pagkain nagting lahat.” saad ni Meghan at lumabas na ang tatlo.

“Baby!” Dolion hissed and kissed her forehead. He then placed a smack kiss on her lips. Anica hugged him tightly but she immediately let go and asked something.

“They don't remember Mayor Gayell.” she whispered.

“Paano? They don't know what happened and said that Governor Hendri did everything.” she added.

“When someone like us died, all our traces and memories with other people vanished together with us. Vindictus' traces vanished the time he died. The fate changes, things changes, everything that involves him changes.” Dolion clearly answered Anica's question. She was able to calm down when she heard what he said.

“That's better.” she sighed.

“Wait!” bigla n'yang usal at tumingin kay Dolion, “Ibig sabihin nabago rin ang mga nakaupo sa pwesto?” tanong nito at tinanguan ni Anica.

“What Vindictus' ruined was fixed by itself when he died.” Dolion answered once again. Anica remained silent and lay down on the bed. Dolion playec with her hair, staring at her beautiful face.

“Everything's done. I could now live the way I want.” Anica whispered and looked at Dolion.

“Can we live our lives free from lies and secrets?” she asked him with those hopeful eyes. Dolion smiled at her and nodded.

“The warm embrace was never been a deceit, baby. I loved you since then and I love you until today. I will love you tomorrow and beyond forever.” he hissed and kissed her forehead.

“It wasn't a deceitful warm. I love you truly and endlessly.” he added and held her hand. He puts a diamond ring on her ring finger and looked at her on the eyes.

“Let me marry you, Nica.”

Anica smiled and looked at him with those sweet grimace on her eyes then said, “Let's get married.”
