Vanessa's Pov
"I was out doing things. My phone was in my purse, which was in my car so I obviously didn't hear it. I didn't check it yet since I was coming here." I said crossing my arms sitting on the bed."Well I thought something happened to you so next time try not to keep me worried." He said and walked to the doors.
"Before you walk out on this conversation, why don't you finish it?" I said looking at him.
"I was doing very important things that you wouldn't understand. So, I'm so very sorry about worrying you or keeping you waiting for a call that wasn't coming. But I'm here and I'm perfectly fine. I'm not hurt and I'm safe. Is that not good?" I said feeling tears form in my eyes.
I didn't want to cry. It wasn't because of him. It was going to Rashaun's grave and then bumping into his mom. It's just so many emotions all together.
"What kind of important things were you doing? Did you go see another guy or something? Is that why you really didn't answer my calls?" He said running his hands through his perfect hair.
"That's incorrect. But if it were to be correct, it's nothing to you because we're just friends. Remember that conversation we had? Probably not since the first word you called me when I walked in was 'babe.'" I said getting up off the bed.
"Then where the hell were you Vanessa? Can you at least tell me that?" He asked walking over to me.
I cringed my face because it's a habit when I'm in an argument with a boy.
"Why are you cringing your face?" He asked looking at me questioning.
"It's a habit, sorry. But if you really need to know, I was at the graveyard. There you go, are you happy now?" I said unlocking the doors.
I was about to open them when I saw a hand above me close them shut again.
I turned around and saw Sam looking at me worried.
"First off, why were you at a graveyard? And second, why do you always cringe when I get close to you in arguments?" He said.
"You don't need to know everything." I said sassy.
"I may not need to know everything, but I want to know when it comes to you." He said taking my hands.
"Well I was at a graveyard to visit a friend and I cringe because I think you'll hit me. Good talk." I said walking out the doors.
"What friend do you visit in a graveyard and why would I hit you?" He said walking out of the bedroom and all the boys looked at us.
"You really want to know?" I said letting a tear slip out of my eye.
"That's why I'm asking you." He said being a smart ass.
"Well usually when you're in the graveyard, you visit people that are dead right? So that should give you a clue that my friend is dead. And sometimes when a girl gets into an argument with a guy and he gets close to her she'll cringe because she was hit by a guy before." I started crying and Nate ran over to me and wrapped his arms around me, letting me cry on his shoulder.
Sam came over and pushed Nate off of me and hugged me picking me up off the floor. I wrapped my legs around his torso and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry Vanessa." He whispered in my ear.
I kissed his cheek. He set me down and walked me over to the couch.
I sat down in the middle of Sam and Jack G.
"I'll tell you guys the whole stories of them both if you want." I looked at all of them.
"You don't have to." Johnson said.
"I haven't told anybody really. I feel like I should get it off my chest. Plus, I trust all of you here so it's not like you would judge me or anything, right?" I asked.
"We won't judge you." They all said.
"Ok well I guess I'll start off with Rashaun, the one I visited in the graveyard." I looked at my hands.
"I was 8 and he was 10. We went to school together and sat next to each other on the first day of school. He was new to the school so I felt bad for him because he had no friends. Our first conversation had to do with animal crackers. He liked them and I didn't. After school, we walked to his house and hung out. After a while, we grew so close. When I was 12 he was 14. He grew up a lot and turned into this bad boy. I didn't mind it because he was still the same way around me."
"We were walking home from school the one day and all these older boys came over to him and did the guy handshake." I laughed a little at how all guys automatically knew how to do it.
"After they left, I asked him who they were and he said 'that's my gang.' I didn't think much of it. Then one day, Rashaun got suspended. I asked him why and he pulled out a gun. I was so shocked."
"When I was 13, he was 15. We were hungry as fuck at his house and his mom didn't go food shopping yet so there was no food. We had a plan to go to McDonald's. We got money and then walked to McDonald's. We were almost there when a group of guys ran over to Rashaun and started jumping him. Someone held me down and then I saw a guy get off of him and reach in his pocket. He pulled out a gun and I screamed for him to stop." I started bawling my eyes out, remembering what happened that day.
Just remembering the sight, it made me feel so bad knowing that I couldn't help.
"I heard a shot go off and then all the guys ran and I was let go of. I saw Rashaun laying there and I remember seeing all this blood all over him. I crawled over to him and held him in my arms. I started screaming for someone to call 911. All these families were standing out side of their houses calling the police and just watching me cry and hold him in my arms. I remember whispering things to him saying that everything was going to be fine and that he was gonna make it. That he was going to grow up and live a great healthy life."
"The ambulance came and we drove to the hospital and I stayed with him while he was put on life support. He was in a coma and I hated seeing him like that. It really broke my heart. The doctors said he probably wouldn't make it because there was so much damage but I had so much hope that he would pull through and make a miracle. I went to go eat breakfast the one morning and I came back and he wasn't in his room. I went to the front desk and asked where he was. I was hoping that he woke up and he was in a different room because he was in better condition. She told me that he had passed. I lost it completely. I was telling myself that it wasn't true. That God didn't let this happen to him. He was such a good kid and for him to just have something so horrible happen to him, it just didn't seem possible. He was seriously my best friend in the whole world and he's not even here to see me and to just make sure everything is ok." I looked up and saw all the boys basically in tears.
They all ran over to me and hugged me. I'm so lucky to have them in my life.
"I'm not really ready to open up about the other story right now since that one but I do have an event tomorrow at a high school. You guys can come see me speak about it." I wiped my eyes.
"Of course we'll come." They all said in sync.
