Days turned into weeks, and the weight of the situation continued to hang heavily over Bakugou. He navigated his way through classes, tried to rebuild his friendships, and grappled with his own feelings. The awkwardness with Kirishima remained, a constant reminder of what they had been through, and the tension between him and Deku lingered, a reflection of the tangled emotions they were both wrestling with.
One afternoon, as the sun cast a warm glow over the campus, Izuku found himself seeking out Uraraka. He had been avoiding her, unsure of how to face the woman he had hurt so deeply. But he knew that he couldn't keep avoiding the issue, that he needed to confront his actions and try to make amends.
He spotted Uraraka sitting alone on a bench, engrossed in a book. Taking a deep breath, he approached her, his heart pounding in his chest. "Uraraka, can we talk?"
Uraraka glanced up, her expression guarded. "I don't know if there's much to say, Deku."
Izuku took a seat beside her, his gaze dropping to his hands. "I know I messed up, Uraraka. I hurt you, and I can't even begin to express how sorry I am."
Uraraka closed her book and turned to face him, her eyes searching his face. "It's not just about me, you know. You hurt a lot of people with your actions."
Izuku nodded, his guilt weighing heavily on him. "I know, and I'm not trying to minimize that. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I understand if you can't forgive me."
Uraraka's expression softened slightly, a mix of hurt and sadness in her eyes. "Deku, you were a big part of my life. We had plans, dreams together. And now... it's all shattered."
Izuku swallowed hard, his own emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "I know I can't change the past, Uraraka. But I can promise you that I'm learning from my mistakes and trying to be a better person."
Uraraka sighed, her gaze dropping to her lap. "I hope that's true, Deku. Because right now, I'm still trying to piece together what's left of my own life."
Izuku nodded, his throat tight. "I don't expect you to forgive me overnight, or even ever. But I want you to know that I'm genuinely sorry for the pain I've caused."
Uraraka looked at him for a long moment before finally offering a small, sad smile. "I appreciate that, Deku. It's going to take time for me to figure things out, but maybe... someday, we can both move forward."
Izuku's heart ached with a mixture of relief and sorrow. He knew that rebuilding what he had broken wouldn't be easy, but he was grateful that Uraraka was at least willing to consider the possibility.
"Thank you for giving me a chance to talk," Izuku said, his voice filled with gratitude.
Uraraka nodded, her smile growing slightly more genuine. "Just remember, actions speak louder than words. Make sure your actions reflect the person you want to be."
Izuku hesitated for a moment, his heart heavy with a mixture of emotions. "Uraraka, I have one more thing I want to say. I know that my actions have hurt you, and I'm not trying to ask for any special treatment. But Bakugou... he's been struggling too."
Uraraka's brows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Izuku took a deep breath, his gaze earnest. "Before he went to rehab, Bakugou was in a really bad place. He was dealing with his own demons, and he wasn't himself. He's trying to get better, to readjust to life now that he's out of rehab, but it's not easy for him."
Uraraka's expression softened as she absorbed his words. "I didn't know..."
Izuku nodded, his voice gentle. "I'm not excusing what he did – he hurt a lot of people, including you, and that's something he needs to make right. But I'm asking you to consider that he's struggling too, and he's trying to change."
