Quena immediately attacked the landing rebels. She swung her light sword gracefully, cutting into the enemies. This group was much larger than the group (Y/N) had encountered earlier. It was a good thing they had the three Elves with them now.

Kavas and Osaniel followed her lead, using their spears to impale any rebel they could. (Y/N) stuck close to Atreus. His ranged attacks combined with her melee made a good fit. (Y/N) wondered if she should learn how to use a bow.

There were a few times when a rebel got close to hitting (Y/N), but she would quickly dodge before counter-attacking with a swift swing of her sword. (Y/N) could feel her rhythm coming back to her. It filled her with a sense of confidence.

The three Elves were doing fine, they had been trained much harder than the other soldiers. It was their duty to serve on more difficult missions, as well as train more to walk in their path for the future.

As the battle continued, it was clear to see that it was against the rebel's favour. (Y/N) pulled her sword out of a dying Dark Elf as she looked around. Quena had a rebel laying face-first, her sword skewering them to the ground.

Freya and Kavas stood by each other, scanning around for any remaining rebels. Osaniel was walking over to them, putting his spear away. Atreus stood by (Y/N), still holding his bow by his side.

"Is that all of them?" he asked her, looking at the body of the rebel (Y/N) had just killed.

(Y/N) looked back at him. "I think so." She took a moment to calm herself down from the adrenaline. This time, she hadn't been hit by anything. There were a few close calls, but she was beginning to learn how the rebels fought.

Atreus and (Y/N) gathered with the rest of the group. Quena had her arms crossed, staring at Kavas and Osaniel as the two checked on her.

"I'm fine." Quena insisted, widening her eyes. "I killed more of them than you could." She pointed at them.

Osaniel sighed before turning to Freya who was standing nearby. "Are you all okay?" he asked as (Y/N) and Atreus got closer.

"Yeah." Atreus replied while (Y/N) nodded.

"Let's keep going." Quena began walking in the direction they were supposed to go.

"Oh, wait for us at least!" Kavas called out, laughing a bit. He looked back at them with a shrug and followed Quena. He tried to match her pace, hoping to get some friendly conversation with her.

Osaniel smiled at his friends. "Anyways..." he said, turning his head towards (Y/N). "You were saying?" They began walking after Quena and Kavas.

"Right, stealth." (Y/N) reminded herself. "If there's lots of rebels there, we'll have to take out small groups at a time."

"Hopefully the rebels will be spread out." Freya hummed.

(Y/N) nodded. "Yeah. In these small groups, we'll have to make sure the target can't be seen by any of the other rebels. We could lead them further from the group by... tossing a pebble! Or... rustling a plant." (Y/N) was using her hands to gesture her words.

Atreus smiled at her fondly. He almost stopped listening to what she was actually saying until she caught his gaze. She smirked slightly at him and he focused up.

"It's a slow process, picking out each rebel one by one." (Y/N) continued. "But if we don't want hostages to get hurt, like Freya said, it's the best approach."

Osaniel hummed thoughtfully. "That sounds solid. Once we get closer to the settlement, we can finalize the plan." He nodded to (Y/N). "You're smart."

"Oh! No. It's just that's how I hunt for my food." (Y/N) deflected the compliment. "Thank you though."

They continued walking in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. The sky was getting darker, the blue half of it becoming a navy blueish black. The red half darkened to a murky maroon.

(Y/N) leaned towards Atreus. "Are Elves nocturnal?" she whispered curiously.

Atreus's eyes turned to her. "I... don't know." He smiled at her cheekily. "Why? Are you sleepy? You need a nap?"

(Y/N) scoffed playfully. "Really? C'mon! It's night. Both of us sleep by now. Besides, we've also been travelling for a while now, on foot." Atreus patted her on the back as they continued to follow the Elves.

Osaniel looked back at them before changing his pace to catch up with Kavas and Quena. He seemed to be talking to them about something. (Y/N) noticed Quena shoot a quick look at her and Atreus, while Kavas shrugged at Osaniel.

"Sounds fine to me." (Y/N) heard him say. The three Elves stopped in their tracks as they waited for Freya, Atreus, and (Y/N) to walk to them.

"Yes?" Freya asked them calmly.

"Do you normally sleep at night?" Osaniel began. "We Elves don't really have a sleep schedule, we kind of just sleep whenever we can or need."

"...yes?" Atreus answered, a bit confused.

Osaniel nodded. "Alright, there's a rest site just ahead." Osaniel informed them. "We can sleep there."

"Rest site?" (Y/N) asked. "What's that?"

"We have rest sites placed around Alfheim for travellers to sleep or take a break!" Kavas explained, his face lighting up. "Pretty cool, right? I was one of the Elves who came up with the idea! Do you guys like it? I think it's a really good concept. A place to rest your tired body after a long day of travelling? It's great!"

Quena groaned a hand on her cheek. "Kavas..." Kavas stopped talking and looked at her.

"I did it again."

"Yep." Quena breathed out a sigh. "Again." She elbowed his side lightly as she passed him. Kavas grinned nervously at Osaniel, who simply smiled at him slightly.

(Y/N) and Atreus both laughed quietly with each other from further behind the group.

Freya nodded of Osaniel. "That would be appreciated." she accepted his offer. "And with a good rest, we can do better in combat."

They continued walking for a little bit until reaching a small campsite. There was an unlit campfire, along with four tents circling around it. Luckily, the tents were all vacant.

"We'll continue in the morning." Osaniel said, facing the group. He was somewhat the automatic leader. "For now, let's all rest."

Quena and Kavas shared a tent, although Quena didn't look super stoked about it. She actually never looked happy, except for when she killed rebels. Was that supposed to be troubling?

Freya nodded to (Y/N) and Atreus as she herself went into a tent. Osaniel did the same, entering the tent between Freya and the two Elves.

(Y/N) and Atreus both went into the remaining tent. There were two pillows stacked in the corner. In the other corner were a few blankets, folded and stacked upon another.

(Y/N) knelt to the ground and handed one of the pillows to Atreus. He was grabbing the blankets, laying them on the ground for comfort. (Y/N) sat on her side of the tent and removed her sword from its sheath.

She placed it on the ground near the edge of the tent, by the support beams. She took her satchel off as well and laid it next to her sword. Atreus did the same with his bow on his side of the tent.

They both laid down on their respective sides of the sleeping space. They were facing up in silence. Atreus turned his head towards (Y/N). He felt like he should say something, but there was nothing to say. It was fine the way it was, quiet.

(Y/N) moved closer to Atreus and rested her head on his chest. Atreus lifted his head slightly and looked at her. "Don't you have a pillow?" he asked quietly, regarding the sack of hay contained in a fabric bag.

"Yeah, you." (Y/N) said smugly.

Atreus breathed out with a small chuckle. "Right."

(Y/N) could hear Atreus's heartbeat. It was rhythmic in a soothing way. (Y/N) closed her eyes slowly as the two of them drifted off to sleep.
