(Y/N) stared down at Atreus's face. A sob choked in her throat. She shook him some more.
"You have to wake up!" she cried. "Please!"
She breathed in sharply. "I can't lose you again." she whimpered helplessly.
Tears made their way down her face, gathering at her chin.
(Y/N) sat there, holding Atreus by the tunic. She cried softly, knowing all she could do was wait and hope.
She closed her eyes and released her grip on him. Her hands resting on Atreus's chest as her head lowered.
For a couple moments, the only sounds that could be heard in the dark hole were (Y/N) stifled sobs.
Suddenly, she felt something warm on her cheek. She opened her eyes quickly. Atreus had placed his hand on her cheek.
(Y/N) looked at Atreus's face. His eyes were half open, but he was smiling.
"Atreus." (Y/N) gasped. Her eyes brightened. She climbed off of him and kneeled by his side. As she placed a hand on his shoulder, Atreus sat up.
"You're hurt." he croaked. (Y/N) shook her head.
"You have it worse." she insisted. "You protected me, but at your own cost."
Atreus closed his eyes and sat in silence for a second. The air around him shook slightly as his scratches began fading.
He exhaled as he opened his eyes. "I'm okay now, see?" He gestured to himself and smiled reassuringly.
(Y/N) looked him up and down. "Did you... heal yourself?"
"It's a god power, passed down from my father." Atreus explained. "You've got tears all over your face." He pointed out calmly.
(Y/N) began wiping her face. "I was worried. Scared." she replied. Her voice was shaky. "I know you're a god, but I still can't fathom the fact that death can't reach you now."
"That's reasonable!" Atreus assured. "I've always been a mortal in your eyes until yesterday."
He reached his arms out to welcome (Y/N) for a hug. She got closer to Atreus and wrapped her arms around him. Her heart was still racing from the panic and adrenaline.
They released from the hug and Atreus stood. He lent a hand to (Y/N) to help her up. As she stood, she could feel a dull ache in her leg. She flinched.
"(Y/N)?"
(Y/N) sat back down on the ground. Atreus took a knee and crouched by her.
"My leg feels weird." (Y/N) explained. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be." Atreus replied quickly. "I get it, you're hurt." He thought for a moment. "Do you mind if I try something?"
"Go ahead." (Y/N) motioned her hand at her leg.
Atreus closed his eyes and held his hands in the air, just above (Y/N)'s injured leg.
"Sunnan þoka~" he said quietly. (Y/N) felt a tingling sensation on her leg. There was a slight pressure.
Atreus opened his eyes. "Try moving your leg slowly."
(Y/N) bent her leg towards her and back out. "It feels better." she said, surprised. She managed to stand up. "How'd you do that?"
"It was a spell I saw Freya cast a while ago." Atreus responded. "It healed her friend, so I thought it could work on you. And it must've, you're standing!" His expression was joyous.
(Y/N) was overcome with multiple emotions. Relief and happiness, but a hint of sadness laid beneath.
"It looks like the troll caused the whole floor of the temple to cave in." Atreus said, pointing up. "You can see the entrances up there."
"How do we get out?" (Y/N) asked. The hole the troll had made was somewhat deep. The top of the hole was about twice Atreus's height.
Atreus looked around a bit until he noticed a shorter edge of the hole. "(Y/N)!" he called. (Y/N) walked over and looked at the edge.
"Yeah?"
"I could try to boost you up." Atreus suggested.
"But how will you get up?" (Y/N) argued.
"We'll figure it out." Atreus kneeled by the edge and put his hands on his knee, faced up. "C'mon!"
(Y/N) placed her foot on his hands and readied her arms to grab the edge.
"Ready?"
(Y/N) nodded. At once, Atreus lifted his hands to boost (Y/N) up as she jumped. Her arms made it over the edge and she managed to crawl up over the edge.
"You good?" Atreus said from the hole.
"Yeah. Now we have to find a way to get you out." (Y/N) stood up and started looking around. She noticed a small pillar standing near the hole, barely surviving the impact from the troll.
"There's a pillar over here. If we had a rope or something, maybe we could hook it to this so you can climb out?" (Y/N) proposed.
"That's perfect! Hang on." Atreus made his way over. "Move away a bit."
(Y/N) obliged and stepped back. Atreus shot an arrow attached to a small rope up to the surface.
"Could you wrap that around the pillar?" he requested.
"On it." (Y/N) approached the arrow and picked it up. She took it over to the pillar and started wrapping it around it a few times.
She ended it off with a knot and jammed the arrow into the ground made mostly of dirt. "Go ahead." she called.
Atreus tugged on the rope and started climbing up. He soon reached the top and placed the rope by the pillar. "That worked!"
"Yeah."
"Let's keep going." Atreus said, turning to leave the temple. "It'll be getting dark soon."
The sun was lower in the sky by now. Soon it would be night.
"Yes, let's go." (Y/N) murmured.
