"Uh..." (Y/N) stepped back. Atreus drew his bow.
The wolves snapped their heads towards them, snarling.
Atreus shot multiple fire arrows in their direction, hitting each wolf with one. He ran over to them and began using his bow as a blunt object. A yellow, magical aura lit up the bow.
(Y/N) stood and stared as Atreus continously beat each wolf to death.
Once a wolf died, it's body disintgrated and resources from its body remained.
Soon, the wolves were dead. Atreus gathered the resources and turned back at (Y/N).
She had an empty look on her face. "That was something." she commented, walking over to Atreus.
"It's how I fight." Atreus responded, putting his bow back on his back. He looked around for a moment before walking over to a dead tree.
He grabbed a thicker branch of it with his hands and began trying to snap it off the tree. The branch gave out and snapped off.
Atreus took the branch and went back over to (Y/N). He held it out to her. "Here, you can use this for now!" he explained.
(Y/N) took the branch and laughed a bit. "Alright." she said, amused.
They continued walking down a path for a bit until Atreus spoke.
"You never answered my question yesterday, y'know." he said. "About joining me on my journey."
(Y/N) stared at him, and then the ground as they walked. "I know."
"Have you decided?"
"I'd love to spend more time with you Atreus. But your father said that this journey will take more than a century." (Y/N) explained. "If I went with you, I'd grow old and die halfway through, if the journey itself doesn't kill me."
She looked at Atreus. "I'm not a god. You'd be far better off doing this journey without me."
Atreus frowned slightly. "It's not fair." he mumbled. "My father said that being a god is a curse. I get it now. We have to outlive the mortals that we care about. We have to see them die." There was hurt in his voice.
"I'm sorry." (Y/N) replied. She put her hand on his back. "But I'm here now. Let's make the most of the time we can have together."
Atreus smiled sadly at her. "Alright."
"Let's find another Mystic Gateway. Vanaheim is nice, but the wildlife could be kinder." (Y/N) said playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
Atreus nodded. "I think I know where the nearest one is." he responded. "Follow me."
They soon reached a natural stone wall with jagged edges, jutting out.
"The gateway is just past this wall; we'll have to climb." Atreus looked back at (Y/N). "Can you climb?"
"Not really, especially something like this." She gestured at the wall.
Atreus thought for a moment, then crouched. "I'll carry you then." he offered.
(Y/N) stared at him. "Really?" she said jokingly. She realized he was serious.
"I mean it." he added. "C'mon, I won't drop you!" He smiled reassuringly.
(Y/N) sighed and climbed onto his back. "You'd better not." She wrapped her arms around him and squeezed tightly.
This startled Atreus; he felt... strange. He approached the wall and began climbing.
It wasn't a long climb. It felt longer though as Atreus had never carried another person while climbing.
They reached the top and Atreus crouched again so (Y/N) could get off.
"See? Told you so." Atreus said haughtily.
"Yeah yeah." (Y/N) nudged his arm playfully. "Now where's that gateway?"
