"Oh no. Was that Dixon?" Andrea questioned as the group took off running.
The Mexican man shouted, "Hey, Dixon, are you crazy?"
As Jane reached the top of the stairs she finally got to see the crazy person firing his gun. His southern accent was thick. He was clearly off his rocker.
"Hey, y'all ought to be more polite to a man with a gun! Huh?" He yelled with a smile.
Jane stood back as she watched him jump off a short ledge. He pulled the bolt back on the rifle, releasing the empty shell casing that was inside.
T-Dog marched towards him. "Man, you wasting bullets we ain't even got! And you're bringing even more of them down on our ass!"
"Hey, bad enough I've got this taco-bender on my ass all day, now I'm gonna take orders from you?" The crazy man laughed, "I don't think so, bro. That'll be the day."
"That'll be the day? You got something you want to tell me?" T-Dog questioned, taking a step towards him.
Jane stood back watching the argument unfold. She reminded herself why she stayed away from groups. They inevitably fail.
Everyone was glancing at each other, unsure of what to do.
"Ya wanna know the day? I'll tell you the day, Mr
'Yo'. It's the day I take orders from a ******."That set T-Dog off. He took a swing at the redneck, but he easily dodged it. He slammed the butt of his rifle into the side of T-Dog's face, sending him falling on to the concrete.
The Mexican man suddenly rushed forward, grabbing his shoulder to try and pull him away, but the redneck clocked him in the face. This was going too far.
Rick ran towards him and shoved him. The redneck must've been stronger than she thought because he shoved Rick, making him trip over some pipes. The only person standing was Jane.
She rushed over to him and motioned her hands into a T.
"S-stop!" She stammered. Jane hated talking. She hated her voice but she knew she had to stop him somehow. The redneck looked at her and rolled his eyes.
"I ain't listening to no Hellen Keller!"
He began making his way over to T-Dog. She stood in front of him, trying to stop him but he grabbed both of her shoulders throwing her to the ground.
Jane hit the concrete but caught herself with her hands which were now stinging. She immediately checked her ear, making sure her aid wasn't gone. Sure her hand was skinned up but her hearing was the priority.
"Stop it! Dixon, get off him!" Andrea and the other woman screamed.
Jane watched as the redneck continued to punch T-Dog.
"No, no, no. Please. Please." Andrea stammered.
The crazy redneck pulled his gun out and had it aimed at T-Dog's head. Jane held her bow tight but she knew it would be useless against a gun.
He waved his gun around, "We're gonna have ourselves a little powwow, huh? Talk about who's in charge. I vote me, anybody else? Democracy time, y'all. Show of hands. All in favour?"
Everyone started to raise their hands.
"That's good. Now that means I'm the boss, right?
Anybody else? Hmm? Anybody?"Rick snuck up behind him and punched him in the face. It sent Dixon to the ground before Rick pulled out his handcuffs and cuffed him to the metal pipe a few metres away from you.
"Who the hell are you, man?" Dixon questioned in a daze.
Rick was clearly set off. No doubt the rednecks behavior was dangerous.
"Officer Friendly. Look here, Merle. Things are different now. There are no ****** anymore. No dumb-as-shit, inbred white-trash fools either. Only dark meat and white meat. There's us and the dead. We survive this by pulling together, not apart." Rick explained, letting go of his collar.
Merle watched as Rick unloaded his gun, "Screw you, man."
"I can see you make a habit of missing the point."
Rick began to say before Merle cut him off."Yeah? Well, screw you twice." Merle responded.
Jane watched as Rick pulled out his gun and put it directly against Merle's head. It was disturbing.
"Ought to be more polite to a man with a gun. Only common sense." Rick said, pulling the hammer back.
"Enough!", Andrea glared at Rick.
Jane watched as Rick put his gun down and began patting Merle down. Looking for any other weapons he pulled out a small packet of white powder from his vest and Jane's eyes widened. How the hell do you even get cocaine in an apocalypse?
"What are ya gonna do? Arrest me?" Merle chuckled.
Rick didn't say anything in response as he stood up and walked towards the edge of the roof, throwing the packet off the side causing Merle to start yelling. This whole thing felt like a fever dream. Jane was still wondering how the hell she was gonna get out of here.
~ A Couple Minutes Later ~
Now Jane was sure she was dreaming. The plan was insane. She watched as Rick and Glenn made their way through the hoard while wearing raincoats covered in blood and guts. She just stared in disbelief, unable to process what the hell was happening.
Andrea handed the binoculars to the Mexican man, Morales, "They made it to the main street, it's working."
"That asshole is out on the street with the handcuff keys?" Merle furrowed his brows.
T-Dog pulled the key from his pocket and dangled it in front of him. Merle went silent.
Jane sat across from Merle, she couldn't bare to watch as Glenn and Rick's staggered through the crowd. Suddenly she heard thunder and a drop of water landed on her arm. She watched as more started to appear. She looked at the dark clouds with worry. Tapping Morales, she pointed to the clouds then down at Rick and Glenn.
Morales reassured her, "It's just a cloudburst. We get them all the time. It'l pass real quick."
Jane weren't too convinced though and grabbed the binoculars, noticing the guts on Glenn and Rick were starting to come off. The walkers around began to take notice. She handed the binoculars to Morales and pointed to the herd with a worried expression. They were running for their lives. She stared as they hopped into trucks and drove in opposite directions.
"They're leaving us." Andrea said in disbelief as they all watched the trucks disappear.
"What? Where are they going?" Merle questioned from the ground.
It was a distraction. Andrea and Morales rushed everyone down the stairs as T-Dog stayed to unlock Merle's cuffs. They struggled for a moment to open the door, eventually getting the cord loose. The undead were gaining on them. Jane knew they had to be quick. A white van bagan reversing back towards them and without wasting anytime Morales quickly opened the back door before everyone piled in. The van took off as T-Dog frantically shut the door so the undead couldn't get in. Jane quickly set her sights on the drivers seat. It was Rick. Which meant Glenn had to be the one in the other car.
"I dropped the key. I didn't have a choice, I had to leave him."
Jane turned her head to T-Dog, the conversation capturing her attention. Leaving him just seemed cruel.
Morales spoke up, "Nobody's gonna be sad that he didn't come back. except maybe his brother."
"His brother?" Rick questioned.
"Daryl Dixon." Morales answered looking at Rick through the revision mirror.
