It was 4:00 a.m. Maverick woke up early to take a run in his werewolf form. As he was getting ready, he thought about yesterday's events. The women looked like they wanted to accept the offer but decided to be cautious; he couldn't fault them.
Maverick walked out of his house with a pair of shorts and boxers. Once deep in the forest, he removed his shorts and put them by a tree. He then turned into his wolf form and ran deeper into the forest to release his energy. His wolf had dark brown fur with golden eyes and was taller than an average man. It felt so soothing to be in his werewolf form; it let him release his true nature. His run almost took two hours, and he thought it was time to return to the path toward the pack. As he ran closer to the path, he noticed something on the right side of the wolves. Using his vision, he saw another werewolf slightly bigger than him; its fur was pitch black, and his eyes were gold. Maverick stopped and used his mind link. "Alpha Matthias, is that you?"
Maverick stopped in his tracks as he heard some branches breaking and the grass shuffling. Another werewolf walked before him with a wolfy grin while holding onto some clothes. "Yes, it's me. I heard you get up early, and I decided to join you. You don't mind, do you?"
"No, let's change back. It does get hard to speak while using mind link." Alpha and Beta arrived at the particular spot where they slowly changed back into their human forms. The men changed, put on their shorts, and slowly walked toward the trail that led to the pack. "You thought I was going to try something again?"
"Not at all. I didn't speak with you yesterday since I was busy with meetings. I also didn't want to be too nosey. However, curiosity got me, and I called Rickon yesterday. He told me that Iris's friend was his mate. I would've never imagined that the Moon Goddess could play such games."
Maverick chuckled at the memory; Rickon looked like a child whenever he was with Jessica. "Indeed he did, and I told him that he needed to break it off with Andrea now that he had found his mate."
Matthias flinched when Andrea was mentioned. "I always told him to never go with that woman. Since she has never found her mate, she is desperate to have someone by her side. Andrea is also forty-five years old, which makes her desperation even more dangerous."
"I think that's why Rickon chose her as his friend with benefits, Matthias. He knew she was desperate and would have done anything for him. You and I know that your brother used her like that cruelly."
"I agree, but I think Andrea also knew this, but her desperation got the best of her. I fear what will happen when Rickon cuts ties with her."
"I don't know; he and Jessica are going out today in the afternoon. I am curious about how their date will go." They finally made it out of the path, and Maverick stopped momentarily. "I was able to clean my house yesterday. It took a while, but it is tolerable to live in now."
The Alpha looked at his friend and smiled. "I'm glad. Your house was a pigstye. Are you still planning to keep Ofelia's belongings?"
The Beta was silent for a moment; he massaged his forehead. "I-I will take Ofelia's clothes and belongings and donate them to the rogues who will join our pack. I know that is what she would have wanted."
Matthias smiled as he patted his friend on the shoulder. "I will help you. Come on, we need to shower and get ready for the day ahead of us."
The morning slowly turned into the afternoon; Iris was helping Jessica pick out some clothes for her date with Rickon. Iris always knew that her friend was confident, but this was the first time she had seen her excited and nervous. Jessica wore tight, light blue jeans with black low heels. She also wore a regular black t-shirt that clung to her body, showing her figure. Iris helped her curl her hair; meanwhile, Jessica put light makeup on. "Don't be nervous, Jessica. I'm happy that you're going out. It's been a while since you have been with a man."
"I-I know, it feels weird, you know. I haven't been on a date for a while."
"Which is why this will be good for you. That Rickon looks like he had an eye on you when he first laid eyes on you. It was as if it was love at first sight!"
Jessica blushed as she finished putting on her makeup. "Now, let's not get too far with that. Besides, I still don't fully trust him."
"Come on, Jessica. Try to keep an open mind, or you might lose a good man if it doesn't work, then oh well. Well, it's almost time, so you should get going. You don't want Rickon to wait long at the library."
The two friends hugged one another; Jessica exited the apartment and walked to the meetup. Meanwhile, Iris stayed behind, planning to move to the new apartment. She couldn't deny that she was excited about the big move as it was far from the city. Living near a village sounded very peaceful, and life would go smoother. She was even considering quitting her current job and maybe applying for a job in the village. Her thoughts were interrupted when there was a knock on the door. "Hm, maybe Jessica forgot something." Iris stood up and slowly opened the door; her eyes widened.
It was her parents.
