It was the moment Rickon dreaded; it was something he didn't want to happen so soon. He finally arrived at Jessica's place to drop her off from their friendly date. When Rickon glanced at his car's time, they had been out for three hours. After the cafe, they walked around the town, had some snacks, and talked. The werewolf had other previous dates with other women, but Jessica was the longest date he had ever had.
Rickon wanted to be with her even longer. No, he wanted to take her with him and live a happy life. However, fate was fickle. When he found Jessica, a human, was his mate, it made him wonder if the moon goddess was trying to get him back from his troubled behavior in the past. In his pack, many stories and legends were passed down through generations about specific actions and lessons and how they could return to you. He regretted his inexcusable behavior and actions and would change for his mate and himself. "Well, here is your humble abode. I hope you had a great time."
Jessica undid the seatbelt and smiled. "I did. I'm surprised that time went so fast. Either way, I never had this much fun."
They both exited the car, and Rickon walked over to her. "I'm glad. Anyway, I hope you and your friend think about the apartment. The occupants are going to move in soon, and there will be others that will be interested in the apartments."
The young woman raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to pressure us to take the offer?"
"N-No! I was stating the truth! I don't want you ladies to miss an opportunity, that's all! Either way, it's your decision!"
Jessica couldn't help but notice the blush on his cheeks, and she giggled. "I was just kidding. Don't worry about it; the offer is always in our thoughts. I will speak about it with Iris, so don't get in a hissy fit!"
Rickon pouted. "I'm not having a hissy fit!"
"Yes, you are!"
The two laughed; Jessica thanked him again and walked back to her apartment while Rickon stood and watched. Once she was out of sight, he returned to his car and drove back home. While driving, Rickon couldn't forget his time with Jessica. He especially couldn't forget her laughs, smiles, and playful temperament. She was everything he could have wanted in a mate. Deep down, he believed Jessica would take the offer, giving him more opportunities to be with her more often. He would introduce her more into his world and where he could eventually tell her the truth.
He couldn't deny that he was afraid of the possibility of being rejected, but he held onto the hope that Jessica would accept him. Moments later, he arrived at his home, close to where his brother lived, and parked his car. The house was not as big as his brother's or Maverick's; Ricon's house was made of logs and bricks, making it look more like a cabin. When Rickon got to the door of his house, he stopped. The werewolf felt a presence inside; it was familiar. "Oh no..." Just as he was about to open the door, it was suddenly opened so hard and fast that it made him almost lose his balance.
On the other side, a woman stood five feet and six inches tall; her skin was dark tan and almost looked like it had been painted. Her raven hair was long and looked slightly in disarray; her lips were somewhat plump, and her face looked tightened; it was as if she had work done. The woman looked to be in her early to mid-forties since she had much makeup. The woman had a luscious figure with a curvy figure, hips, and a large bum. Her breasts would fit any man's hand and make them lust for them. "Andrea, what in the hell are you doing here?"
"You have a lot of nerve asking me that! You selfish, self-righteous bastard! You broke up with me over text!"
"Technically, we were never together. We were friends with benefits and nothing more. You confused our acquaintance as a relationship. I never lied to you about how I viewed you and what I've wanted from you." Rickon hoped that it would have been the end of seeing one another. However, there was a side of him that knew this would occur. Andrea was once a rogue who joined the pack eight years ago, and Rickon helped her get situated. Andrea lost her parents when she was in her late teens and hung out with the wrong crowd of humans and werewolves. She was also in denial of her identity as a werewolf, but with some guidance, she slowly accepted who she was. Rickon knew she had feelings for him, but he didn't share the same sentiment. They both didn't have mates and were lonely, so they decided to have a physical relationship, which Rickon wanted. Andrea, however, saw it as something different. He felt terrible that he had to end everything, but now that he found Jessica, everything had to change. "I'm sorry."
"You're sorry!? I gave myself to you! I told you my feelings! How could you view everything we have gone through together as something trivial!?"
"I know, but let's be honest with each other! We don't love one another; we just used one another to feel a void we tried to suppress. Our relationship was unhealthy and wrong, but we were afraid to turn away due to our fear of being alone."
Andrea suddenly went to Rickon and hugged him. "N-No, my feelings for you are real! I know you have feelings for me like I do for you!" She looked at him pleadingly. "We have our ups and downs, but we can overcome them! We-!"
Rickon got out of her grasp as he motioned her away from him. "I found my mate, Andrea. No matter what you say, it's over between us." When he said those words, Andrea felt as if she was punched in the gut. Rickon found his mate; he was going to leave her. "I'm a jerk, I know that, and I should have thought of your feelings, but I was selfish. Now that you're here and know you won't go down without a fight, I might as well tell you the cold, hard truth. One of the main reasons I stayed with you is because I pitied you. I didn't want to leave you alone because I feared what you would do to yourself and out of pity. After all, you had no one."
It was silent between them; Andrea felt her heart shatter into pieces. The man she 'loved' was with her out of pity.
Pity!
He never viewed her as a woman but as someone vulnerable that needed to be looked out for. She fixed herself to be presentable to him to make him happy, but everything was pointless. She destroyed and gave herself to a man who never viewed her as a plaything. Anger hurt filled her heart and being. Her eyes became pitch black.
Rickon knew she was angry and felt every right to handle it. He hurt her deeply, but even though their relationship was over, he was willing to help her as much as possible. "Even with all that, I won't deny that we had good times together. We can still be friends and-"
Andrea growled as she eyed him with rage. "You used me! You viewed me with pity! You took away my happiness! Well, I'm going to take away yours! I will make sure that I will make your life a living hell! If you think that this is over, think again! This is only the beginning!" She walked away from him and eventually ran into the shadows, leaving Rickon alone.
Rickon stood in silence as he held his keys. He knew this wasn't over and feared what would happen next. He didn't want Jessica to get involved in his troubles, and he didn't want her to get the wrong idea. The werewolf knew he made a mess and had to clean it up before it was noticed. "Oh, Moon Goddess, what have I done?"
