"You stupid girl!" Mrs. Chopra shouted, seeking everyone's attention. Ved ran over to her, concerned.

"What happened? Are you okay, babes?" Mr. Chopra asked, concerned.

"That stupid assistant spilled a drink on my expensive dress!" Mrs. Chopra blamed Rooh. Rooh was beyond shocked by this allegation. Ved rubbed his temples in frustration.

"Apologize, Miss Rooh," Ved said, frustratedly.

"Why should I? I didn't do anything," Rooh defended herself.

"Then I'm lying, babes," Mrs. Chopra said, faking tears, and left the room.

"Darling," Mr. Chopra called after her. He turned back to Ved and said, disappointedly,

"I didn't expect this from you, Mr. Maheshwari. I'm canceling the deal." He left the hall, and Ved clenched his fists in anger.

Enough is enough. He couldn't tolerate this loss. Ved held Rooh and dragged her out of the party.

"It's hurting, leave me," Rooh said distressed and jerked her hand away.

"You think you're smart, Miss Rooh? We lost the deal because of you. How will you compensate for it, huh?" Ved spoke in a high-pitched voice, and she flinched.

"It's not my fault. She spilled the drink intentionally," Rooh defended herself.

"And you expect me to believe you, huh?" Ved sarcastically spoke.

"Yes, you have to. I'm not lying," Rooh screamed, her temples started burning.

"I don't care. Go fix this or compensate for the company's loss," Ved declared and sat in the car, crossing his arms and looking out the window. Rooh stomped her feet frustratedly and went back inside, knocked on Mrs. Chopra's door. Mrs. Chopra opened the door, anger evident on her face. She left the room, pushing Rooh aside. Rooh entered the room, feeling nervous.

"What do you need now, Miss Rooh? I told you there won't be any deal," Mr. Chopra said irritably.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Chopra. I realized I did wrong. I shouldn't have spilled the drink on Mrs. Chopra. It was an accident, but it's still wrong. I'm apologizing with my whole heart," Rooh apologized, her head down. Mr. Chopra sighed and looked her up and down. He stood up and stepped closer to her, placing his hand on her shoulder and rubbing it with thumbs. Rooh felt awkward and uncomfortable as he leaned near her ear.

"So you are here to compensate, okay then," Mr. Chopra whispered. Rooh flinched, a thousand thoughts racing through her head. She couldn't do anything but stand there, accepting the humiliation. He flipped her hair back and slid his fingers on her neck. Rooh controlled her tears, feeling disgusted by his touch.

Why is this girl so stubborn and arrogant? She can't even do one task properly. Miss Anjana, you'll answer for this. Said to himself, and smacked the steering wheel, unlocked the car door, and went back inside the house. He went straight to Mr. Chopra's room and witnessed something he never expected. Mr. Chopra moved back, smiling.

"Hello, Mr. Maheshwari. Your assistant is quite obedient, I must say, compensating for your company's loss. That's r—" Ved landed a punch on his face before he could finish his sentence. Rooh was shocked by this.

Silence filled the car as no words were exchanged. Ved's temper was still high as he stopped the car on the side, unbuckling his seatbelt.

"Don't you have a brain, Rooh?" Ved shouted at her. She didn't say anything, just looked down at her hands.

"I'm asking you something, Rooh. How could you agree to this?" Ved shouted.

"I was compensating, as you said," Rooh said in a low voice.

"For god's sake, stop this. I didn't ask you to put your dignity at stake," Ved frustration spoke.

"I don't have enough money to compensate for your loss," Rooh said matter-of-factly.

"Then you should have been more careful. Were you jealous of Mrs. Chopra? Oh god, Rooh, she is married! Why would you be jealous?" Ved scoffed, Rooh look him not believing.

"You are full of yourself, just like men can sense other men's intentions, women can too. I sensed something bad from her, so I excused you from there. She couldn't tolerate it and used this cheap trick. I'm not interested in you, not even a little bit," Rooh said, panting. She slammed the car door and left.

"Where are you going?", ved shouted.

"None of your business. It's already 9. I'm off duty," Rooh replied confidently.

"You are my responsibility, come inside, now", ved loudly said

"Then you should've trusted your responsibility, learn that first. I'll be present in front of you at sharp 9 am tomorrow morning. No need to worry about me," she added coldly.

Ved was still angry and misunderstood that they lost the deal because of Rooh. In his frustration, he kept burdening Rooh with additional tasks, believing it would prove his point. However, he failed to realize that his actions were only worsening the situation and pushing Rooh further away. Ved's anger clouded his judgment, preventing him from understanding the true impact of his behavior on their relation.

Despite Ved's anger and misguided assumptions, Rooh remained determined and refused to lose hope. She maintained her composure and focused on her own goals. Rooh knew that she had acted out of a sense of protection, even if he couldn't understand it at the moment. She believed in her own instincts and remained resolute in her decision to distance herself from the situation. Rooh was confident that she could prove her worth and show Ved that she was more than capable of handling her responsibilities. She refused to let his anger and misunderstanding define her and instead channeled her energy into proving herself through dedication and hard work. Rooh was determined to rise above the challenges and prove Ved wrong, showing him that she was not someone to be underestimated.

"May I come in, sir?" Rooh asked for permission. Ved didn't glance up; he just hummed.

"You asked for me," Rooh said politely.

"Yes, check all these recruitment files and submit a report today," Ved said, gesturing towards the pile of files on his desk. Rooh's eyes widened seeing the bundle of files.

"It's a lot. I'm still working on the task you gave me," Rooh complained. Ved looked up and smiled sarcastically.

"Oh yes, you have your previous work too. Okay, I need a report on that as well, today. Submit it before you leave," Ved said coldly, focusing on his work.

He stretched his arm, piled up the work, took his coat, and went out. But his eyes fell on her desk, her head was on the table. Curiosity piqued, he moved in her direction. Glancing at the desk, he noticed it was covered with files, with one hidden underneath her. As his eyes shifted to the computer screen, he saw her photo as the wallpaper. Lost in the image, he admired her eyes, lips, nose - everything about her was uncountably beautiful and perfect.

Suddenly, she woke up, turned around, and saw him standing behind her. She flinched and stood up abruptly.

"I have completed the file, was waiting for you," Rooh said, her voice trembling with haste. But she was cut off by him.

"I know. Just pile it up and leave," Ved said coldly, walking away. Rooh gazed at him with disdain.

"Pathetic," she mumbled under her breath.
