Snake in the Grass

"So some of you did a lot better on this project than others" Slughorn announces as he makes his way around the room, "I can see some of you only started this last minute".

A panicked look is plastered on my face, Mattheo's hand gives my thigh a reassuring squeeze.

"You're forgetting Tom helped us" Mattheo whispers.

"Some of you need to take a few notes off of others, especially the pair that got top marks" Slughorn proceeds, "Well done Miss Maddox and Mr Riddle, full marks" he places our paper report in front of us.

I smile and give Mattheo a kiss on the cheek.

"So now your prize" Slughorn makes his way over to the cabinet, "Here, Felix Felicis".

"Liquid luck" I murmur.

"Nice" Mattheo says with a big smile plastered across his face.

I don't even know what to use it for, many help Slytherin beat Gryfindor in the final game before Christmas. Not that we need it, Mattheo became captain a couple weeks ago and the team has been on fire since.

"How on earth did you get full marks?" Daphne says as we sit down for lunch.

"Thea's the brains" Mattheo laughs.

Daphne has always been the smartest, aside from Tom, being smart is her way of winning. Astoria on the other hand is more getting with guys... I love her for it.

I notice Blaise on another table with Draco, "What's happened?" I ask as the others notice me staring.

"Astoria happened" Theodore muttered.

"To Blaise?" I sigh, "How could she do that!?"

"You know what she's like T" Daphne says.

"But Blaise he's our friend" I'm frankly shocked, "I'm going over".

I get up and make my way over to Blaise and Draco, I sit down and give Blaise a hug.

"Are you okay?" I ask pulling away and resting my head on his shoulder.

Mattheo has made his way over and sat next to Draco.

"I knew her reputation but I thought she wouldn't do that to me, I mean we were friends for years" He sighs.

"I'm sorry" I say rubbing his back.

Astoria walks by and shoots me a dirty look, Mattheo spots it as well. She continues to walk over to Daphne, Enzo and Theodore and says "She's literally all over him, I can't believe Mattheo is okay with that".

"She did not just say that" I scoff.

"T don't, she's not worth it" Draco says.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she's slept with him already we all know how quickly she jumped onto Theodore" Astoria laughs.

No one laughs with her, I get up and make my way over.

"What on earth is your problem?" I say standing over her as she's sat down.

"You" Astoria scoffs as she stands up, admittedly she is taller than me but most people are and that has never stopped me before.

I roll my eyes, "I'm sick of you thirsting to get every guy in Slytherin's attention" she snarks.

"You're pathetic I hope you know that" I laugh, "I knew you were low but to hurt Blaise, your friend, is even lower".

I'm trying to ignore her comments, I mean I have had the comments before but from someone who is meant to be my friend... It's different.
