"We heard from Jaemin. Is Caryl girl your destined?"
The first words Donghyuck heard, the second he stepped in Aeri's house. He didn't even had the time to breathe, or even settled himself on the living room where the other four are huddled.
Donghyuck scoffed a laugh, earning all the eyes as he sat on the available couch.
"You're not gonna go easy tonight huh?", he commented
"Just answer it.", Aeri pushed
"I don't even have anything else to say."
Jimin scoffed, "Then what was that awhile ago hm? You didn't have to announce your presence like that."
"You're crowding her."
"And then?"
Donghyuck shrugged, "Just that"
"I already told him there is a high chance that they are destined. His subconscious protecting just added to it."
"Protecting? You might want to elaborate that.", Donghyuck raised a brow
Jaemin sighs, "You just felt a sense of protecting her in any way. There's no way you will push Jimin like that just so their hands won't touch?"
"I didn't push her, it's just a light bump!", Donghyuck argued
"Yeah well maybe I exaggerated a little bit.", Jimin puckered her lips
"Okay let's say you just heard her call on that 3 AM. Is there a similar cause after it?", Aeri asked
Donghyuck wasn't able to answer immediately. He thought about the other time he heard her voice like a passing wind as he walked on the hallway to his first class in the afternoon.
He heard her, he admits. He's not even in a close range to her that time. He didn't saw any demons rapidly passing, or even one inside the room when she called.
Usually, demons came rushing when they'll hear someone summoning them, but at that time– at the second time, he's the only one who came. It definitely felt that it is for him, and he's the one who should respond. The only one.
Donghyuck sighed.
"Is there?", Chenle says
"Maybe", he only answers which made the others whine
"It's just answerable by yes or no!", Aeri exclaims
"You could've answered longer.", Jimin says
"You're still not sure about it?", Jaemin asks, "If you felt something different by her summons, you should get curious about it."
"Or maybe you have some thoughts but you're still doubting?", Chenle
"You don't expect me to believe immediately? It maybe worked for Jaemin, but it doesn't mean that it works the same for everyone."
"But aren't you curious even just a little bit?", Jimin pushed
"Fine, I got curious. That's why I started following her, thinking I could make out a reason or two."
"You should've said that the first thing!", Chenle excitedly said, making Donghyuck roll his eyes, "So?"
Donghyuck sighed, "I did hear her again. No demons around."
"Then you're the only one who can hear it.", Jaemin smiled widely, "Hyuck, you have a connection!", he exclaimed
"I hear you the first time.", Donghyuck grumbled
"So what do we do now?", Aeri asks
"We? Isn't it his problem?", Jimin answers
"Oh we're not gonna do anything.", Donghyuck says
"WHAT?", the others chorused
"She's expected to marry the half-demon, Lee Minhyung. For the union."
They all got silent. They have heavy sighs and a sad pout on their lips. It's almost like they got defeated big time.
Donghyuck scoffed a laugh.
"Why do you look dispirited?"
"But it won't be a successful union. You're the one who's destined for her, not the other.", Jaemin says
"Isn't it the same? As long as they got married, the union between families will be stronger."
"On legal papers, yes. But I think there will be no connection between them at all.", Chenle added, "I should ask my parents about that."
"Hey, no!"
"For more knowledge, Hyuck.", Aeri sheepishly smiled, "What about you? Still not gonna participate in the union? Your family is in."
They all looked at him
"What? What are you all looking at again?", Donghyuck seethed
Jaemin grinned, "I think you should start changing your decisions, Donghyuck."
"You're a purebred demon. Your chance of strengthening the union is stronger.", Jimin added
"This is why I don't like to share anything with you.", Donghyuck tuts, "No, I won't. Just like I said, I don't want to play by the court's laws. I want to live here freely. Being in that damned union makes everything complicated."
"Sure, okay.", Jaemin shrugs, and then the others also started muttering okay and alright
Donghyuck sighs, "You can't make me change my decision."
"We're not forcing you. We're just merely giving a suggestion like the good friends we are.", Aeri says with a grin
Donghyuck only rolled his eyes. Looks like he have to live the next days with his friends whispering on his ear like the literal demons they are.
