The Adventures of Laney Scamander: Lost In Time

Chapter 4-Muggle Morning

The next day went by fairly quickly. It was most definitely one of the most chaotic days; Jaxson had come over and the boys were already getting into trouble. Laney and Addison decided to steer clear of their ruff housing and instead stayed inside to bake. Laney also taught Addison how to make the charms that her mum once showed her how to make. "These charms help repel Wrackspurts, which are hard to get rid of." Laney explained. Addison nodded as she followed along with Laney's technique.

Soon, Tuesday arrived. Laney and Addison were one of the first to get out of bed. "You guys are going to love the shops there!" Addison exclaimed. "Yes, I'm particularly interested in the shop that only sells shoes and nothing else." said Laney. Once the girls made it into the kitchen, they saw Luna standing there, drinking a hot cup of tea. "Morning girls!" Luna said. "How did your charm making go yesterday?" "Morning mum! It went wonderful, Addison has some talent as far as making charms goes." Laney replied. Addison smiled. "Oh Laney, you flatter me. You're way better at making charms than I am, I messed up five before I came up with a half decent one!"

The girls laughed. "Well, there's still tea in the kettle if you'd like some, and I've got some cinnamon rolls baking in the oven. Feel free to help yourselves, I've made more than enough." Luna said. "Thanks!" Addison exclaimed.

Laney pulled out two teacups and saucers. Then, she poured tea in both cups. Addison added a bit of sugar and cream, and Laney added sugar and milk to hers. The girls took a seat at the table and chatted until the timer went off for the cinnamon rolls. Luna pulled out her wand and magically got the rolls out of the oven and poured icing all over them. Laney took a whiff of the freshly baked pastries. It was a very comforting smell, for it was the smell of home. The cinnamon rolls floated over to the table as well as seven plates and napkins.

"I'll be right back, just going to wake up your brothers and their friend." Luna told Laney. Laney nodded while staring at the cinnamon rolls. A screeching noise snapped Laney out of her daze. "Back from feeding the animals, oh, and I see your mother has made cinnamon rolls!" Rolf said joyfully. He went to the sink to wash his hands and took a seat across from where Luna had sat just a few minutes ago. "Speaking of your mother, where has she run off to?"

"She's just gone to wake up Lorcan, Lysander, and Jaxson." Laney said. It took about five minutes before the boys came down for breakfast. The boys were still in their pajamas and had bags under their eyes. "You three look tired." Rolf said. Lorcan nodded. "We stayed up all night brewing potions and making charms." "You guys know you're not supposed to brew potions at night! I don't want it going wrong and having you get hurt." Luna said with a stern tone. "Sorry mum." Lysander said as he helped himself to a cinnamon roll.

After everyone was finished with their breakfast, they all got dressed and ready to go to the muggle world. Addison advised them on what to wear. For the first time in a while, the Scamanders were looking completely normal. Luna didn't have her radish earrings in, Rolf didn't have a strange looking tie on, the twins didn't have their normal bright clothing on, and Laney didn't have her strange looking jewelry on. "You guys look more like muggles than muggles do themselves!" Addison exclaimed as she stepped back to take a good look at the Scamander family. "Er, thanks?" Lysander questioned. "Don't worry mate, I think it's meant to be a compliment!" Jaxson said, patting Lysander on the back.

After everyone was ready, they stood outside and waited for their muggle driver to arrive. Laney remembered the last one they had; the driver gave her family questioning glares, but didn't speak to them whatsoever. Laney hoped that they would have another driver like the one they had before. Finally, after waiting outside for 15 minutes, two muggle vehicles arrived. "We had to get two to fit all of us." Rolf told everyone. "I'll go in one, and mum will go in the other. Then we'll just divide you guys up." Addison and Laney went in the vehicle that Luna went in, and the boys went with Rolf. Once everyone was all buckled up, they began their journey to the muggle world.
