The two appeared in the country of Bhutan, surrounded by various buildings. There seemed to be tension in the air as Laney and Addison looked around. "Something big is definitely going to happen." Addison said as she looked around. "Glad I'm not the only one who can feel it." said Laney, searching around. "Okay, if I'm correct, then Dumbledore and Jacob should be appearing right here soon."
"You think they would be able to help us?" Addison asked. "Maybe, it might be risky though. I say, if we can get Dumbledore alone, then that might do us some good." Laney said. Addison nodded, and began to roam around. "We need to stay close, that way we won't lose each other." said Laney. "Right! Okay, quick question though, how are we going to find Scarlett. I mean, does she even know where the Room of Requirement is?" asked Addison.
Laney thought for a moment. "Hopefully she does. If not, this was all for nothing and we'll be in even deeper mud." Addison sighed. "Always jumping in before thinking things through." she said, shaking her head. Laney smiled awkwardly. "Yeah, not my best quality." she admitted. "Anyways, we best be off. We'll stay close to here, then once Jacob and Dumbledore arrive, we'll follow them."
"Good idea!" Addison exclaimed. The two girls then made their way behind a small building that was close by. "Shoot, our clothes are in my case! We're going to get caught if they see a bunch of students running around!" Laney said, realizing the dilemma that was placed in front of them. Addison thought for a moment. "Quick, take off your robe! That might make us less noticeable."
The two took off their robes and threw them aside. Laney peered over from their place at the exact location Albus Dumbledore and Jacob Kowolski would be arriving at. "They should be coming soon." Laney said, peering down at her watch. As if on cue, someone appeared, but it wasn't Jacob or Dumbledore. It wasn't even Lally or Newt. It was a girl with black hair and a suitcase. "Addison, we need to follow her!" Laney said, trying to keep her voice down in fear the girl might hear her. "Follow who?" asked Addison, who was busy inspecting the time turner. "Scarlett!"
Addison perked up. "Scarletts here?" "Yes, now let's go!" Laney said, pulling her friend's arm. Addison tucked away the time turner and followed Laney. "I guess mission get your case back is on!" said Addison, smiling. Laney smiled and nodded. The two followed Scarlett, getting closer to her. Laney came up beside Scarlett casually, and reached out for her case. Addison came up on the other side of Scarlett. Once Laney had her hand on the case, Addison turned to Scarlett and smiled. "Hello, lovely to see you here!" she said. Scarlett looked over at her, shocked.
"Trying to ruin my plan, are you now?" Scarlett asked. Addison smiled kindly at her. "How'd you know?" she asked cheerfully. "Well anyways, it was lovely to bump into you, goodbye now!" And with that, Laney yanked her case and began running, Addison hurrying off after her. "Hey!" Scarlett shouted. She began to chase after them. "Oh no, not this again!" Addison said dreadfully.
Laney pulled out her wand and casted Impedimenta. Scarlett stumbled back and fell on the dirt ground. "That should spare us a few seconds! But now we need to go find Dumbledore." said Laney. Suddenly, her body fell stiff; Scarlett had just casted Petrificus Totalus on her. "Laney! Are you alright?" asked Addison, who stopped and knelt down to her. Addison pulled out her wand and pointed it at Scarlett, who was now running over. "Expelliarmus!" Scarlett said, knocking Addison's wand out of her hand. Scarlett attempted to grab the case out of Laney's stiff hand, but Addison pushed her off. She picked up her wand and casted Reparifors on Laney. The two got up and started running, but not before Scarlett tore Laney's case out of her hand.
She then took off. From her speed, you'd think she'd be running for her life! Laney reached a hand out after her, but it was too late, Scarlett was already gone. "What does she want with your case? I mean, sure it's cool and all, but why does she feel the need to steal it?" Addison asked. Laney looked into the distance, remembering the conversations her and Scarlett once had when they were friends in third year.
"So, I've told you all about my favorite things, now what about you? What do you like?" asked a young Scarlett. Laney smiled. "I really like learning about magical creatures, they're ever so fascinating, wouldn't you agree?" Scarlett shrugged. They're okay I guess. Seems a bit boring though." she said. "Well I think that they're wonderful. Some of my greatest friends are creatures, you know." Laney said, looking off into the distance.
"Merlin, how lonely are you?" Scarlett asked, laughing. "Well, I suppose it's a good thing you have me as a friend." Laney nodded slightly. "I suppose so." she said, a sound of sorrow pricking at her voice. "And Addison, I have Addison as well. And my family." Laney added. "But I'm obviously the better friend, right?" Scarlett asked. Laney thought for a moment, unsure of what to say. "Okay." she replied.
"She's using this against me. Her knowledge, she's using it against me!" Laney said, realizing Scarlett's scheme. "I remember my mum saying that if it's just you alone, you're not as much of a threat, and to watch out for people like that." Thoughts raced around Laney's mind, as she rethought her past friendship with Scarlett. "So she sees you as a threat?" Addison asked. "From what I can tell, yes." Laney replied. Addison perked up. "But luckily you're not alone, for you have me!" she said. Laney smiled, and pulled Addison into a hug. Addison seemed a bit shocked, but ecstatic nonetheless.
The hug lasted for a brief moment, before Laney pulled away. "Okay, now our next plan of action; we could either go find Dumbledore, which, I'm not even completely sure if we'll be able to accomplish that yet, or we could go after Scarlett, which I am also quite unsure of." said Laney. Addison thought for a moment. "Let's take the risk!" she said. "Let's go find Dumbledore! Once we do that, we can get your case easily." Laney smiled. "Brilliant! Well then, let's put this plan into action, shall we?"
