Days later, Berrington has finally managed to rebuild stronger walls and expanded walls. At the grave site, the headstones of Brigg, Alicia, Brie, Zeke and Morgan lie. Feeling at peace, Kyle and Sarah walk amongst the streets of Berrington and happily look out at what they have rebuilt. Samantha is working on a wall with John, before nodding respectively to Kyle and Sarah. Hunter is in new clothes, then looks out at Berrington, sighing with appreciation and content. The two then see Chloe in the distance standing by then Chris comes up to her, before Chloe smiles and then kisses Chris. Caleb is looking out into the wasteland while on his guard duty shift, thinking about Elizabeth. Margaret is on guard duty, looking out into the wasteland and then smiling. In the Burton house, James and Cassandra shower together and then hold each other close. In Kayla's house, Kayla and Savannah are dancing around as Shawn is sitting on the couch, with him watching happily. Savannah then runs over and grabs Shawn hand, pulling him into the dance, before pushing Shawn and Kayla together as the share a silly romantic dance. Outside, Margaret climbs down from the tower and is greeted by Rocky. The two then share a kiss, before Rocky takes on his shift on guard duty. Kyle and Sarah continue walking until they hear a voice from behind them.
Rachel: Kyle!
Kyle and Sarah turn to see Rachel, who has a bandage wrapped around the burned side of her face as well as a white gauze to cover her blind eye, walking towards them.
Sarah: Hey! You're awake!
Rachel runs towards the two and hugs Kyle and Sarah.
Rachel: Yeah....
Kyle and Sarah pull back from the hug.
Kyle: How's your eye?
Rachel: Well, it's gonna take me a while, but....at least Morgan had shitty aim. It's my hair that I'm worried about. This won't take long to grow back, will it?
Kyle: Eventually... in a few months.
Kyle and Sarah laugh.
Sarah: I'm glad you're okay...you still look very pretty.
Rachel: Thanks...me, too...
Rachel looks around.
Rachel: Hey, is....Hunter, did he...?
Sarah points as Rachel turns around to see Hunter approaching her. She then smiles as does he.
Hunter: Hey, Rachel ....I...I...
Rachel cuts Hunter mid-sentence and then wraps her arms around him.
Rachel: I'm glad you're okay.
Hunter: Thanks...Me, too...
Rachel then pulls back and punches Hunter's chest playfully.
Rachel: Congratulations. Berrington's officially your home now.
Hunter smiles, then Rachel turns to Kyle and Sarah, then back at Hunter.
Rachel: Hey, Hunter....I need to talk to Kyle and Sarah for a minute....Is that okay?
Hunter looks at Kyle, then back at Rachel.
Hunter: Sure. I...We'll hang out later?
Rachel smiles.
Rachel: Yeah...I'd like that.
Hunter smiles, before Rachel kisses his cheek, causing him to blush. Rachel then walks off with Kyle and Sarah as Hunter bites his lips.
Hunter: I'm definitely gonna love it here.
Hunter laughs. Kyle, Sarah, and Rachel head back over to the admin building then sit on the front steps.
Kyle: Look, Rachel, about Hunter, I know you want to....
Rachel: That's not why I asked to talk to you two in private....I just wanted to say....Thank you guys....
Sarah: For what?
Rachel: "For what" she says. For saving me, of course!
Kyle: Don't mention it.
Rachel: And not just saving me now, but....saving me from a life with my bastard Dad....I just...I just wish I could give you guys something in return, you know?
Sarah: Rachel...we don't need anything in return...plus, it's an apocalypse...what would you give us in return?
Rachel: Umm.....
Rachel stands up and paces around, before facing the two adults.
Rachel: My last name.
Kyle and Sarah give a confused look.
Kyle: Uh...
Sarah: What?
Rachel: Just hear me out, okay? When you guys met me, you didn't really know me. You said it multiple times; I was just cargo to you two...but that whole journey, we all bonded and this whole time with you all, it felt like a real family...something I never had with my own father....Well, I went to Samantha with some advice on what about to ask and I want to ask and just so you know what I'm about to ask does not mean I want to replace Rose in anyway, but I want to repay you both by having your last name instead. You guys are like the parents I never got to have...
Kyle and Sarah are shocked with Kyle's eyes becoming red and tearful.
Rachel: You guys have protected me as if I was your own. I just feel guided, protected and loved with you two more than I've ever felt. I have a life thanks to you two.
Sarah, happily crying, puts her hand to her mouth, touched.
Sarah: Oh, Rachel...
Sarah then walks up to Rachel and wraps her up in a big hug, before Kyle stands up and walks towards the two and embraces them. For a moment, the hug feels like a real family. For some time, Rachel finally speaks.
Rachel: Uh...guys...you never answered my question. I mean, I prepared a very touching speech here.
Sarah: Oh, shit...
The three break apart from the hug.
Kyle: Yes! Yes, honey....I actually....for a while...I always considered you my little girl....
Kyle looks to Sarah then back at Rachel.
Kyle: Our little girl.
Rachel then hugs Kyle again, before Sarah laughs, crying. Sarah nods, looking at what she finally has; a real family.
