" something dark and evil has awakened "
May, 2016.
Issac watched the training grounds with careful eyes, taking a moment to stand off to the side and catch his breath. It was disgustingly hot and his t-shirt, despite being loose and dr-fit, was starting to stick to him. He leaned back against a crate, sipping his water while he watched Wanda and Steve go over various training exercises. After the incident in Sokovia, she, as well as Sam, Rhodey, and Vision, were adopted as official Avengers. Clint had formally retired, and Tony had officially stepped down and remained as a non-combatant. Thor returned to Asgard to research the six infinity stones. Vision's main source of power? Turns out there were five others like it with various abilities somewhere in the universe. It was both an intriguing and terrifying thought.
He watched as Steve took a running start and jumped, Wanda's red magic surrounding him as she hoisted him into the air with a bit of a struggle. Now, Issac probably would have been able to do it with little to no struggle, however Wanda's abilities were different from his. She was also less experienced than he was, as Hydra and Ultron had used her more to play with people's minds instead of cultivating the rest of her capabilities. They'd failed to see the true power she held, but Issac didn't. He would focus on helping her train every aspect of her powers, his being the most similar to hers out of all of the Avengers after all.
His resting spot gave him a perfect view of the exercise, especially when Wanda's concentration slipped and Steve landed on the ground with a hard thud. He hadn't been high enough to get hurt, however the sudden drop caught him off guard and instead of catching himself like he normally would, the poor man wound up practically face planting into the softer floor of the training center.
Wanda's gasp and Issac's immediate laughter sounded through the large, open space. He hadn't meant to laugh, really, he hadn't, it just slipped out. Steve pushed himself up, groaning slightly as the dull full body ache subsided quickly. He looked at Wanda, laughing softly at her guilty expression.
"It's fine, we'll work on that more." He rubbed his shoulder, wincing slightly. "Maybe it's time to call it a day, good work today you two. Get some rest."
Wanda tried not to smile when she realized that Steve was alright, and that he wasn't even relatively mad at her for dropping him. She grabbed her things and bid the two a goodbye, disappearing into the compound to shower and rest up. As much as she tried to hide it, the constant training left her sore and aching for several days afterwards. In better ways, it reminded her of the experiments she'd undergone while working for Hydra. Only this pain was from bettering herself, not being trained on how to kill or permanently traumatize people.
The Avengers had moved into a larger facility upstate, commonly referred to as the Avengers compound. It was an old Stark Industries facility that had been renovated and modernized to fit all of their needs. It was surrounded by open nature, and held a large garage/ airplane hanger, a lounge for all of them, a conference room, separate bedrooms for everyone, as well as various other forms of activity and entertainment for them while they stayed.
Issac couldn't help but chuckle softly as Steve made his way over, the taller male letting out a fond sigh.
"Are you enjoying yourself?"
"I am." Issac grinned, reaching up to gently cup his face. "As long as this handsome face remained unscathed, of course."
Steve shook his head, hands lightly hovering over Issac's waist.
"And here I thought you weren't nearly this shallow."
"Did you really think I fell for your amazing personality and endless kindness?" Issac scoffed playfully. "Absolutely not."
Steve lightly shoved the male before stealing his water bottle to take a long sip from it as they made their way back into the compound.
"Rude." Issac mumbled as he intertwined their fingers. The silver ring on his left hand glinted slightly as they entered a more illuminated area of the building, Steve's glinting as well as his hand passed the rays of sunlight shining through the large, open windows.
"You love me." Steve grinned down slightly at him.
Issac let out an overly dramatic sigh.
"That, I do." he smiled up at the male.
