★LUCIANO★

Unable to believe what I just heard, my jaw hardened. And with my fist clenched, I snatched the nurse's hand violently and then bellowed; "She told you that and you believed her?"

Shuddering beneath my touch, the nurse seemed edgy and perplexed. However, the fury pulsating through my veins was enough to send her into a world of oblivion forever, but I restrained myself for a moment.

"I I-I had nothing to believe, Mr Pavarotti. I didn't know if Janie had an ulterior plan. Please can you just tell me what exactly is going on?" She inquired with a stutter.

Good, now she aims to play the innocent card! But on the contrary, a part of me wanted to settle with the fact that she had no idea about Janie's situation from the onset.

Fuck! Today wasn't my day at all.

"Janie has escaped. Dammit!" I boomed at her and she flinched.

Her expression briefly morphed from terror to confusion then to shock in the short span of five seconds. "I did nothing wrong, Mr Pavarotti. How was I supposed to know Janie has been in captivity all this time? By the way, isn't it better that she's escaped? She doesn't want to stay here and all you do is- hold people against their will."

Her snide remark made my guts dip in rage.

With exuberant force, I yanked her hand forcefully and she let out an agonizing grunt.

"Perhaps, you've forgotten who you are speaking with like that. Or maybe I haven't really shown you what I do to unbridled tongues." My grip around her wrist tightened as I seethed. "I'd rather have your tongue than listen to you rebuke me because you are in no position to do so." Having said that, I shoved her violently on the ground and she crashed with a thud, letting out small whimpering sounds as she stared back at me in trepidation.

Still, the fear in her eyes didn't seem to bother me one bit. For a fact, I have seen worse and one thing about me- would always be my satisfaction of watching the terror flicker through people's orbs as they gawked back at me.

It portrayed just one thing- I am in control and I'll always be.

Pointing a finger at her, I declared. "Now, I am giving you twenty minutes to pack your things and get the hell out of this mansion. You are damn lucky I am not having your head for offending me twice in a row. So if I go out there and return to still find you here, you'll be a lump of dead meat." I asserted between gritted teeth while she shakily shuffled to her feet and then walked away from me.

I tossed one last look at her retreating figure before whirling my wheelchair around to head downstairs, and just then Romano rushed up to me, saying; "I heard noises coming from up here. What's going on?"

"Janie has escaped," I informed him and a surprised look was instantly evident on his face. "I think she took a run for it while we were outside, dealing with Luigi's situation."

"I can't believe this." He gasped in shock.

Yet, even with his shocked expression, I could make out a hint of excitement on his face. Like he was relishing this whole situation a little too much and I immediately yelled at him.

"Don't you dare make a mockery of this dilemma, Romano? I want to find her and I must have her back. She shouldn't have gone that far!"

Romano took in a deep breath. "Don't get mad at me but isn't obvious she doesn't want to be around you, Luciano. The girl saw a slight chance to escape and she took it. So why don't you tell me the sole thing I want to hear? That's the only way this whole fuss will make sense to me. Are you in love with her?"

His sudden question made my heart clench.

But I hastily countered. "No."

"Then why don't you forget about her, Luciano? You know this isn't the first time we are having this conversation." He pushed forward.

"I can't," I responded with a harsh tone, banging my balled fist against the arm of my wheelchair. "That's the problem...I just can't."

"But why?" Romano retorted sharply. "She is just a young girl, trying to navigate her path in life and she would only serve as your weakness."

Out of frustration and rage, I slammed my fist against the arm of my wheelchair again. "Don't you dare use my word against me, Romano!" I warned then confessed. "Fine, I have feelings for her."

"Whoo hoo!" Romano tossed his hands in the air. He issued me a knowing smirk while I gave him a glare in return.

"I have feelings for Janie....." I reiterated one more time, a part of me felt relieved to have gotten it out in the open. ".....and it took me the whole trip to Italy to finally realize that. I can't say that I'm in love with her yet. But I just want her to be with me. Even though she hates me, I can't help but want to be around her all the time. So now, be a good friend and help me find her."

Romano heaved a sigh. "Falling in love is dangerous, having feelings for someone is stupid-" he blurted, prompting him to toss him a scornful glare.

Yet, he continued. "But I am going to help you because I believe you can handle the whole burden that comes with having a vulnerable side. So let's go find her."

Without another word, the both of us head downstairs, out to the front yard. Romano hastily summoned some of my men and in no time, I started to address them;

"It seems today is escape day, but I don't intend on letting either of the parties succeed. The young teenage girl under my custody has escaped. Y'all know her. Her name is Janie and I need you to find her for me. She ran into the woods, though there is no way she could have gone that far. Comb everywhere if you have to, but you must bring back Janie to me." I commanded at once.

"Yes, Boss." They chorused before dispersing in various directions to find Janie.

Therefore, Romano and I stayed back, waiting for their return.

For the first time in a long while, my heart was thumping rapidly against my chest. I wanted Janie to be right here in my arms at all costs. Even though I have to apologize all over again for speaking to her that way, I would.

But her leaving wasn't an option and it would never be.

The moment I handed her father that huge sum of money, she belonged to me forever.

"What would happen if they don't find her?" Romano's sudden question pierced through my thoughts, jolting me back to reality.

I shook my head, not wanting to accept that possibility. As long as Janie wasn't a needle in a haystack, I, Luciano Pavarotti would find her.

"They have to," I replied sharply, bringing my gaze to his expressionless face before adding. "They just have to find her no matter what it takes, because out there is more dangerous than being here."
