"This is for all the people you've killed, all the people you've hurt, and this is for Max" Eleven said as she struck Vecna with the final blow, ending his reign of terror.
The Next Day
Eleven needed rest, she was exhausted. taking down the world's greatest supervillain does do that to a person. that's why Hopper insisted she just stay at home today, he even offered to check on Max for her, but that wasn't gonna happen. El wouldn't feel right until she herself was by Max's side.

"Are you sure you don't want to just go home after a quick check up? You need your rest.. and I doubt Max will notice either way" he mumbled the last bit. he didn't want to hurt El by saying this but since there's been no progress so far, he hasn't had much hope for Max's recovery.
"Yes, I want to be by her side when she wakes up"
"okay Kido" he said with a gentle smile and a side hug. for both their sakes, I really hope that kid recovers he thought as he watched his daughter walk away.
As she opened the door to Max's hospital room she noticed Lucas had already been there by Max's side. she was grateful her best friend had someone there with her, but she felt guilty it wasn't her. sure it was true that missing one days worth of a visit was a small almost non-existent cost for taking down Vecna. but she wanted to make up for this. she felt like it was her fault for even leaving Hawkins in the first place, so missing even that one visit meant something to her.
"Oh hey El" he said as he looked up at her with almost a defeated look on his face
"Hello Lucas"
They then went back to the quiet depressive state the room was originally in. El shut her eyes trying to reach Max, like she did everyday Max was in the coma, other then yesterday.
but today when she closed her eyes it wasn't darkness she saw, it was..
"Max"
