a couple days later

Hopper was driving El to the hospital on his way to work like he'd been doing everyday. She begged the doctors to let her just spend the nights in Max's room, Hopper even asked them believe it or not, after some pleading from Eleven. but unfortunately the visiting hours were very strict, up to 2 people could be in the room from 7am to 6pm, No exceptions.

"Dad?"

"Yes?" He replied with a warm smile, He'd only just gotten used to hearing that again

"Why do you think Max hasn't woken up yet?" this question again she'd been asking things like this a lot recently

"I wish I had an answer for that" he replied with a faint smile that said sorry kiddo

El just looked down and fidgeted with her fingers. Max being pulled out of the darkness and back into her mind had to have something to do with defeating 001. but why hasn't she woken up from her coma as well?

"Hello Lucas" El says walking in the hospital room seeing Lucas's hands intertwined with Max's.

"Hey El" he replies. it's been the same routine, they briefly exchange pleasantries then El spends time with Max in her mind.

If Lucas is completely honest he's jealous, jealous that her boy- her friend. doesn't even get to see her but Eleven does. he gives El things to pass on to her but it's just not the same. He even asked El yesterday if she could try to bring him with into Max's mind, and so they tried, and failed.

"Lucas?" he looks up from Max's hands to El who's looking right at him. slightly surprised he asks "I didn't realize you weren't by Max yet, what's up?"

"Are you still in love with Max?"

what the- "What?! why would you ask that?" he says getting irritated, quieting down when a nurse walks by

"Max wants to know"

His eyes softened hearing it was Max who wanted to know "Oh.. Yeah I am"
