Much to Eleven and Lucas's disappointment the doctors saw no change in Max's condition. but at least the fact that they could now communicate with her was a win.
Lucas set off to tell the others of the good news, while El stayed behind to return to her best friends mind. Max immediately smiled when she saw El return and engulfed her in a hug.
"Eleven you're back!"
"Yes, I told you I would be" El replied with a smile

"So I know I'm kinda in a coma and we should really be figuring out how to wake me but.. do you wanna go exploring first?"
"Explore your mind?"
"Yes! it will be fun trust me. there's probably even some stuff I don't remember in my subconscious or whatever."
"Well I suppose it could help-
"Exactly let's go!" Max said dragging her along she's in a coma, why is she this happy? El thought. whatever the reason though she was glad for it, the universe hasn't exactly let Max be happy these past couple years.

They came across Scoops-Ahoy "Oh I wonder if we can actually taste the ice cream" Max said, and so she tried it "Yep! Here!" she said handing some over to El.
El took a lick and asked "Max?"
"Hm?"
"Why are you happy?
Max just stared for a minute what kind of a question was that she thought
"Umm.. cuz I have my mind back.. and because you're here" she nearly whispered the last part. she didn't know why it made her nervous to say. who wouldn't be happy to have El around?
"I'm happy to be here too" Eleven said before returning to licking her ice cream.
Max just looked at El with a smile and returned to eating her ice cream as well.
A/N: would you prefer shorter chapters like this how I've been doing with sooner updates? or more normal length chapters with updates that take slightly longer?
Also just an fyi I made El kinda blunt on purpose cuz I thought it fit her personality.
