Chapter 14

CHAPTER 14

QUINN

Today I finally got to go above the underground city. Nicolai took me up to teach me more hunting skills and I almost died from excitement. The fresh air, the sun, the wind, and trees, the open scenery. 

And then I remembered the day I first arrived here. It had been five months since me and my friends got lost and ran into Nicolai. Look at me now... I now consider Nico as my closest friend and brother. The thought of my friends being murdered, strangely enough, didn't bother me as much. Nicolai said I would become less aware of the violent things around me as my animal instincts became more natural. Though, I still wonder if maybe one day I'll get to see my parents at again. 

I can't bare the thought of them worrying so much about me. I hate the thought of my Mother crying.

 "Q man! That was yours!" Nicolai growls as he runs to catch up. "You are not paying attention at all. What's going on inside that lop-sided head of yours?"

I get low and growl. He knows how embarrassed I am about one of my ears being limp. 

"Hey now Q man, you know there is nothing wrong with being a little different." Nico says, just begging for a fight. 

My wolf had grown in the past month more than it ever has. My legs are longer like Nico's and every muscle in my body is hard like stone. I would be considered strong and terrifying if it wasn't for my one damn limp ear. 

"Well, now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it's effecting your hearing. The deer was probably never in any danger." He said, his head low to get level with my bowed stance. 

I growl and smack him. Nico growls back but before he recovers from the hit I pounce on him. We bite at each others ears and the skin on our necks, hoping the other will back out first. 

Then we're both on our feet again growling and snapping our teeth at each other. Nicolai strikes first but I dodge his attack and tackle him to the ground. I stand over him as he lays on his side and growl in face. 

"I won bitch." I laugh out loud and when Nicolai finally sucks it up and submits to me, I couldn't feel more alive. 

I lick his ear and then lick all over his face. Nicolai squirms underneath me and grabs my limp ear with his teeth. I growl back at him and he lets go knowing he's lost the fight. I smile wide and remain standing over him, soaking up all the dominant power. I have just proved myself equal to Nicolai. 

And he couldn't be more pissed about it. 

Nico huffs and shifts to his human form. He rolls onto his back and lays his head on his arms. I tilt my head at him and look his body up and down. His long blackish hair was always a mess when he shifted back to this from. His braids would tangle and the few strands of dreads would loosen. But for some reason I always found his boyish looks and intimidating movements to be hot as hell. 

"You gunna eat me Quinn?" Nicolai asked playfully. He reached up and played with the fur on chest. 

My body shuddered and I smoothly shifted to my human form. I looked down at Nico from my hands and knees and almost felt the urge to kiss him. All thoughts of our runts aside, I wanted Nicolai bad right now. 

NICOLAI 

I watched Quinn's features turn from playful to lusty in a matter of seconds. I couldn't blame him though. I was too comfortable being naked around him and I didn't know the full extent of how I effected him. But, now as I look up at a naked Quinn I start to feel the excitement to. 

His hair has grown longer and is nearly at his shoulders. I know how soft it is and I love the way it curls slightly at the ends. Quinn truly has become something beautiful. He always was attractive, even as a human, but now he's something that tempts me.
