Quinn
I've now been a werewolf an entire month now. I still have I few ups and downs though. My shifting isn't at all where It should be. My body isn't really excepting my new diet either but, I'm enjoying myself. I finally am starting to know my way around the underground city too. I know where all the dinning halls are and I can find my way back to my new home almost from anywhere.
I lean over the balcony that looks over the front entrance of the Alphas court. This spot is one of my favorites surprising and I cant get enough of all the freedom an energy that I watch below me. Guards passing by laughing and throwing insults at each other. Everyone is always eating some form of food, drinking some sort of alcohol. The wolves can't really get all that drunk from a couple of drinks. That's probably why there's no drinking age.
"Hey, what are you doing out here?" Nicolai sneaks up behind me and puts me in a choke hold. All the training I've been doing is really starting to kick in now. I twist my body around and get free from Nick's grasp. He laughs at me and joins me looking over the balcony.
"I never noticed how entertaining it is to watch from up here." He says.
Down below a fight breaks out and there's a chair thrown and a glass vase I broken.
We both laugh. "You know I never thought I'd forgive you Nicolai. But, it's like I can somehow look past what you did when we met, and I can see all the good here. There's so much freedom and loyalty and excitement and family. How could I of ever been happy before as a human?" I look at him and wonder why he isn't glad about my statement. "Nick?" I say quietly, hoping I haven't upset him.
He takes a deep breath, "It's good to hear your able to be happy Quinn. But, you don't know what this place can be like if your unwanted." He pauses, thinking something over. "My Bree would be raped and killed or thrown out to the rogues if anyone ever found out about us. You need to understand how important it is that you don't get attached to a runt." His eyes were pleading and filled to the brim with tears. But I knew he would never let one fall. He would never cry in front of anyone.
"You love Breese?" I ask.
"Yes, of course." He says and holds the necklace he wears gently in his fist.
"Then why won't you run away with him? If that's the only way you'll be happy, then why not do it?"
He scowls at me, "I am heir to the thrown Quinn! It's not like I can run away and no one would notice. They'd come after me. My Father would be so ashamed of me, he'd probably end my life."
I looked at him startled. How could his father do such a thing. "But the Alpha loves you. Wouldn't he want you to be happy?"
"He thinks runts can't give the amount of love that we need. Their to weak and small to protect us. They need to be taken care of all the time and wouldn't ever be able to take care of us." The words come out bitter.
"Do you agree with all of that?" I ask, already knowing the answer.
"Hell no. Breese is everything I want. He's so smart and strong and loving. It doesn't matter if he's smaller, smaller people can do just as much. I just can't get the Alpha to agree with me." Nicolai takes a deep breath and pats me on the shoulder, "I'm going to bed, its like three in the morning. Goodnight Quinn." He says with a small smile.
-------------
I wake up the next morning feeling antsy and I have to stretch my legs. I get up and shift to my wolf. My body does with almost no hesitation at all and I don't feel any pain. I stretch my body and roll around in my fur blankets.
I hear a loud thud outside my room. I shift to my human form and pull on some pants before opening my door. I walk around a bit looking for the source of the noise until I find myself looking over the balcony. The court is filled with wolves and I realize I've over slept.
