(Aleksei's PoV)
"REDUCE THE DISTORTION ON THE AMPLIFIER!" Richie our lead singer yelled over the ghastly noises that came right off my guitar.
"REDUCE YOUR...PRESENCE HERE!" I yelled back lamely as I fiddled with the amplifier.
Jamie our drummer calmly walked over to where I was stood and unplugged my guitar before (just as) calmly walking over to Richie and sticking a half eaten scone into the latters mouth.
We glared at each other, well except Jamie who had picked up another scone but this time for himself as he planted himself on the large Marshall speaker, scrolling through his phone.
"Where are those idiots?" Richie asked more to himself as he scrolled down his contact list.
"ALRIGHT LADS!" Alfie burst through the large garage doors with plastic bags in both hands, a tired Charlie who looked like he had had enough following soon after.
This was us.
Dishevelled.
A rubbish band name I'm aware but one that we've come to love over the past 8 years of our friendship.
Richie was our front man, Jamie our drummer, Alfie our lead guitarist while Charlie was on the bass and me, Aleksei, I played rhythm.
"Can we get one song in by the end of today's session, I'm begging." Richie whined as he stood in his position front of the mic stand.
"I'm beggin', beggin' youuuu..." Jamie sang taking little sips of his Pepsi max between words.
"What's the point?" Charlie drawled, "no one even likes us."
"You take those words back right now." Richie fumed.
It wasn't exactly true, we were asked to play at all our school programmes, not to mention numerous birthday parties and even at Alfie's uncles pub where we surprisingly received positive feedback despite the fact that we were your typical teenage misfits who liked to believe punk wasn't dead.
But I could see where Charlie was coming from, he was the only...normal (?) one of our little posse of punks. He mingled with the 'other' (more popular) kids...intimately, so he knew what went and what didn't go with kids our age.
"Mark wants us to play at his party this Saturday." Alfie muttered as he munched on some abandoned crisps.
"THANK YOU." Richie motioned towards our setup.
We groaned but listened to him anyway positioning ourselves with our instruments.
We came up with a different set list for each event and mostly never played the same song more than once (emphasis on mostly.)
We never really wrote our own music, save that one time Charlie arranged a song for his girlfriend asking her to the school dance or some such rot.I'm not jealous or anything...
Being in a band was supposed to bag me some chicks but I never reaped the benefits. Never.
It's absolutely ludicrous how not one girl has asked me out. Not one.
Being only 16, we liked to do what boys our age did, like being obnoxious, extremely gross, horny and ready to get into fights and get our faces battered! it made us, well, at least it made me.
Maybe girls didn't like the real me but I'm sure I had a certain badass reputation that I liked to hold on to for a long time.
