3rd Person POV:

Wendy sat behind Will in Mr. Clarke's class, mindlessly drawing figure eights in the corner of her notebook and not really paying attention until Lucas rudely smacked the corner of her desk to gain her attention.

"What?" Wendy whispered as she shot a small glare at her friend.

"MadMax," Lucas whispered, gesturing to the front of the class.

Wendy looked up to the front of the class and saw a red-headed girl holding a skateboard, looking very uncomfortable at everyone staring at her. Wendy could relate to that.

"How do we know that's MadMax?" Wendy whispered to Will.

"Her name is Max," Will shrugged.

When Max was instructed to sit in the empty seat in the back of the class, Wendy watched in confusion when the boys practically broke their necks watching the girl walk to her seat.

"You guys look creepy, stop it," Wendy said.

'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'

Wendy crouched by the fence, not really paying attention to the boys' conversation, most likely about MadMax. Wendy managed to capture a small frog in her hands. She stood up straight, her hands cupping the small frog, and silently held out her hands to Dustin.

"Wendy should talk to her," Dustin said, taking the frog without a second thought. "Awe, he's so cute."

"Talk to who?" Wendy asked.

"Max, you should ask Max how she got that high score," Lucas said.

"Have you thought that she's just really good at playing Dig Dug?" Wendy asked with furrowed brows.

"Girls don't play games!" Mike said.

"I play pinball," Wendy pointed out.

"Barely!" Mike said.

"Mr. Byers, Miss Harrington, your ride is here," The principal approached the party.

Both Wendy and Will sighed, it was time for their therapy sessions at Hawkin's Lab. While Will's was more mental therapy, Wendy's was more physical therapy.

"See you guys later," Will said, both he and Wendy grabbing their backpacks from the ground.

"Don't forget your costumes for tomorrow!" Lucas called out as Will and Wendy walked to Joyce's car.

"Hey you two, how's school?" Joyce asked.

"I found a frog and gave it to Dustin," Wendy shrugged.

"There's also this new girl in school, we think she's the person who beat Dustin's score in Dig Dug," Will said.

Wendy climbed in the backseat of the car and Will went in the passenger seat.

"Well, have you talked to her?" Joyce asked.

"Not yet, they probably will later," Will shrugged as Joyce started driving to Hawkin's Lab.

'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'

"Okay Wendy, same time as the last few times," Dr. Owens said with a cheery tone that Wendy still has no idea why he's so happy every time she and Will visit. "Nurse Fiona here will poke the affected areas on your left side with this clean popsicle stick and you tell me if you feel any pain or not, got it?"

"Fine," Wendy said, waiting for Dr. Owens to leave the room so it was only her, Nurse Fiona, and Joyce in the room. Once he did, Wendy reluctantly took off her long-sleeved shirt so she was down to her bra, but she covered her chest as she lay on her right side. The scars on her left side and arm were exposed to the chilled air, making her shiver slightly.

"Okay, I'll start with your arm first," Nurse Fiona said.

Wendy felt various pokes on the scars of her left arm, after each poke she said she felt no pain. When Nurse Fiona got to Wendy's side, that's when Wendy's neutral face turned a bit strained.

"Feels..sensitive," Wendy admitted.

"Okay, on the pain scale 1-10, 1 being the least amount of pain, 10 being the most?" Nurse Fiona asked, getting a pen and paper.

"4," Wendy sighed. At least it's an improvement from months ago, Wendy almost had to fight Nurse Fiona because the pain was too much. The pain scale was between 8 and 10 during those months. The only reason the pain lasted so long is because the doctors think it has something to do with the Upside Down and the demogorgon infected Wendy, causing the wounds to heal more slowly than normal.

"That's..an improvement, right?" Joyce asked hopefully.

"Yeah, as long as Wendy keeps applying the ointment, the pain should be gone by early next year," Nurse Fiona said, making Wendy roll her eyes. Wendy hates the feeling of the ointment she's supposed to use, it makes her uncomfortable and it smells bad. It's probably why she's still feeling pain to this day because she would lie to Steve and say she put it on when she didn't, so Steve had enough and started applying it when she was knocked out on pain meds in her sleep. She never caught him doing it, but Steve admitted to it when she started getting stressed about why the pain was going away when she didn't do anything.

"What about the scarring? Will that go away?" Joyce asked.

"Over time, yes, as she grows they could pass as stretch marks," Nurse Fiona informed.

Wendy gave out a shaky sigh. 14 years old and people are going to think she has stretch marks, great. The only thing is, since this is a small town, everyone thinks she was attacked by a mountain lion, so Wendy doesn't know which is better. People think she has stretch marks, or people think she was attacked by a mountain lion.

"Overall, there's no irritation to the skin, just keep applying the cream every now and then, especially after a shower, and come in right away if the pain increases," Nurse Fiona said, throwing away the popsicle stick. "You can put your shirt back on. I'll tell Dr. Owens about the results and you guys should be on your way."

Wendy sighed and sat up, quickly putting on her shirt.

"Thank you," Joyce thanked the nurse, giving Wendy a small look to do the same.

"Thanks for poking me with a stick," Wendy said, getting off the small hospital bed and grabbing her jacket.

The nurse left and Joyce fixed Wendy's bangs, getting them away from her eyes.

"Your bangs are getting a bit outgrown," Joyce noticed.

"I'll trim them when I get home," Wendy shrugged. She insists on fixing her own bangs after her dad took her to his 'trusted' barber once two years ago and he trimmed her bangs too short. She wore a lot of headbands and hair clips until the appropriate length grew back.

"Come on, let's get you home," Joyce chuckled. "Are you going to need a ride to Mike's house tomorrow night? I could get Jonathan to take you."

"No thanks, I'm going to Dustin's house straight after school," Wendy shook her head, following Joyce out of the room and meeting Will and Hopper in the hallway.

"How'd it go?" Will asked.

"Pain level 4 on my side," Wendy shrugged.

"That's good, the pain is going away," Will said. "What about the scarring?"

"If people don't know that I was attacked by a 'mountain lion', they'll assume it's stretch marks when I'm older," Wendy sighed. "I don't know which is worse."

"Getting attacked by a demogorgon?" Will asked.

"...that is what happened though.." Wendy trailed off confused.

"Yes, but people can't know that," Will pointed out.

"Ohh," Wendy nodded slowly, the two of them leaving Hawkins Lab.
