By the time it reached 2015, I had no clue who Annie was. It was like she disappeared. When they invented submarines a long time ago. I passed the idea and continued my endless obsession to kill myself. I forgot Deadshot. I forgot all of them. I didn't forget them, just pushed them down deep. Like an open wound ready to rot. They were all gone, just gone. Annie's Dad died on that island. So apparently he wasn't invincible. I should of offed him the day I met him. It's 2015, I'm sitting in my basement. Reading old journals, checking my work. A ring echoes through my mansion. I stand up quickly and search for my phone. I finally find it underneath a pillow on my couch. A familiar voice speaks up.
"Hey, Will. I have a lead on something that could help you" John, a colleague, answers.
"Yes? What is it?" I stare at the wall as he mumbles on.
"A girl was found at the bottom of the ocean. They say it's a miracle. She didn't have an oxygen tank or anything. From her clothes, they deduct she has been there a long time. She hasn't woken up yet. She's in some sort of a coma" He spoke quickly. My mouth hung open widely. I dropped the phone. It fell to the ground with a loud bang.
*View of Annie*
Weird people swarm around me. They have masks and are wearing blues and white. Colors swirl and dance.
"We need to get the water out of her" A man bellows.
"Out of where doctor?" A lady frowns.
"She's completely flooded" The man grabbed a shiny utensil. He brought it down on my neck. I began screaming. I began scratching at his hands.
"How is she still alive?" The lady steps back.
"A miracle" The man put down the bloody tool.
"I don't believe in miracles" I managed to breathe out. That was the most painful thing I've ever done. A sentence.
"How is she even talking? She's...... inhuman" The woman shakes her head. They stick a needle in my arm. I began to feel sick and disoriented. I woke up a week later. Numb and empty. I had multiple bandages on. Needles and tubes stuck in me. I sat up quickly. Memories hit me right in the face. Everything comes rushing back. The drowning. The constant drowing. I ripped the needles out and grab my throat.
"I can't breathe! Help, I can't breathe! Please, help!" I yelled over and over again. To the point of tears. People rush at me and stick me with all sorts of medicines and drugs. I slip back into blissful sleep. When I wake up again, a woman in a suit stares at me.
"Hello" She smiles. I stare at her annoyed. My brain hurts. "My name is Athen" She reaches out to shake my hand. I ignore it. Breathing is hard. "I need you to tell me your name" She sticks some kind of machinery in my face.
"None of your business" A raspy voice flows from me.
"When were you born?" She asked. I rolled over.
"Where do you live?" She asked. I shook my head.
"Is there anyone I can contact?" She looked at me. I sat up and looked at her. I hesitantly spoke out.
"I need you to get someone for me. His name is Deadshot" I stare at her wearily. She gives me a weird look and walks to the doctor by my bed. She whispers something and the doctor helped me into a wheel chair. He began rolling me down the isle. The lady stood by the door.
"Where is she going?" Someone asked my doctor.
"The crazy ward" He chuckled. What?
"Athen! Please, do me a favor! I need you to put my face in the newspaper or whatever! I need someone to know I'm alive! Just make sure the world knows! My name is Annie Winchester! I was born 1865 March 21st! I live in Houston, Texas! You can contact Deadshot!" I yelled. "My name is Annie Winchester! I was born 1865 March 21st! I live in Houston, Texas! You can contact Deadshot!" I kept chanting as I was being rolled down the hall. He must know. He must find out. "Theseus! His name is Theseus!" I began crying as they wheeled me down the halls.
