As the sun set over the town, shining light on the autumn leaves as they fell to the ground. A door creaked open softly before closing silently as a child silently made their way across the front lawn and through the town. Trying to not make a sound or draw any attention to themselves as they did.
The child trekked through the forest, leaves crunching under their boots as they came closer and closer to their destination. Their father would wake soon, and the child hoped it would be too late by the time he did.
At the moment the child hoped that, they saw they were standing at the base of the large mountain the urban legend was based around. The child slowly began to ascend the mountain as the sky started to become darker and the sun was barely seen.
They arrived at the top where a large hole was, letting anyone who fell into the monster's domain. The hole had vines pooling down into it and bright yellow flowers the child thought to be buttercups surrounding the base and on the stone at the bottom.
The child grasped onto one of the dark green vines and tried to use it to slide down safely, and just as they did the vine snapped and the child started to fall down down down until they were laying on top of the buttercups that surrounded the hole on top.
Drifting in and out of consciousness because of the fall, the child thought they saw a child with chocolate hair, red eyes, and a yellow and green sweater with a golden necklace staring down at them with hope.
