Knight Light gently touched down and set Y/N in the Academy's courtyard. "Go on. They're waiting for you."

Y/N hastily made her way to Spyro and Chop Chop, who were waiting patiently near a glowing Portal Of Power.

"So Y/N, ya ready to go home?" said Spyro.

"d-do i- do i really have to go?" Y/N squeaked with a tremble in her voice.

Spyro straightened himself, repositioning his wings. "Well yeah, of course you do. Like Eon said: if you were to stay here any longer you could make the magic rift worse, and probably put the Academy or all of Skylands at risk..."

Chop Chop lightly tapped Spyro on his shoulder.

"oh. right. I should probably not do that during important situations."

"You... were paying attention when Master Eon said you'd only be here for a day, right? That this isn't your new life or anything like that?" the Arkeyan knight inquired.

Y/N nervously glanced around, not responding.

"Very well then. Just step on the Portal and wait for a moment, you should be home in no time."

Y/N went and did so, the swirling magic somehow feeling solid beneath her feet.

"Goodbye Y/N!" Spyro chimed as the two waved farewell.

"g-goodbye! I-I-I'll miss you!" Y/N called, waving back.

In a brilliant burst of magic, she was gone.

. . .

The duo stood in silence for a second, before unanimously giving a heaping sigh of relief.

"let's be honest, will anyone here miss her? Quite frankly I'm glad she's gone." CC hissed, exhaustion evident in his tone.

"I think I am too." the dragon responded. "Yaknow that was a pretty dumb move... just sneakin into an active mission like that."

"Oh you didn't hear? She tried to flirt with Enigma yesterday."

"WHAT??!"

Y/N woke up with a gasp.

She was in her bedroom back at home. Looking around, she saw her stuffed animals, Funko Pops, and other childhood mementos where they had always sat. Even the dresser drawers she had flung open in search of her uniform that fateful morning. The sun was shining proudly through her soft sheer curtains.

Saturday morning.

Had it been a dream? Had Skylands and its interesting inhabitants all been a dream?

Y/N carefully stepped out of bed and walked downstairs to the the living room.

"h-hi mom!" Y/N called awkwardly.

"Oh, Y/N!" Her mom beamed, springing from her recliner and wrapping her daughter in a hug.

"I was so worried, the principal called me saying you never arrived at school- where were you all of yesterday?!"

All of yesterday? Y/N looked down at herself, to see she was still in her school uniform. Now bearing muddy smudges from tripping on the Academy's stony paths, it was in dire need of a wash.

So it hadn't been a dream.

"w-well mom, I-I have quite the story to tell you!"
