"Wah.." said Wheein, gripping the hot ceramic cup in her hands. "You...that's one hell of a dream"
Yongsun just nodded slightly and kept staring at a particularly misplaced black dot on the short haired black&white carpet laid out on the floor in front of her. The fuzzy textile of the couch was sticking slowly but surely to her thighs, making her wish she had put on long pants before flying out of her apartment half an hour ago.
"The pain... Wheein, the pain was real. I woke up feeling everything... The guilt, the fear, the anger. It was all there. It still is. Not in my head, more like in my soul. I can feel it right here." She said clutching her chest with her right hand. "I'm not sure what's wrong with me..."
Quiet footsteps echoed around the narrow corridor, standing tall behind Wheein's back, a wild, sleepy, soft pink pajama-wearing Hyejin emerged from the darkness. She didn't say anything just dragged herself over to the couch, wrapped her arms around Wheein from behind, and kissed her softly, right below the earlobe.
"Morning "she muttered and hid her face in the crook of Wheein's neck. The latter didn't say anything just blushed profusely and looked at her cup as if waiting on it to provide some shelter from Yongsun's curious gaze.
"Didn't know you were visiting, Unnie. Would have woken up early to make you guys breakfast," said Hyejin standing up, throwing Yongsun a dashing smile and making her way toward the kitchen block.
"You?! Making breakfast?! Ha-ha. Do you remember that one time you tried to cook spaghetti and we had to call the landlord... And the fire department?" added Wheein with a smile.
"Oh, come on! How was I supposed to know you have to add water to the pot?! I...do takeouts!" said
Hyejin rummaged through the fridge bringing three iced teas to the table.
"I'm so sorry, I'm ruining your morning guys. I should have called." Yongsun stooped up from the couch getting dizzy and sat down again.
"Whoa, slow down! You're not going anywhere! We're fine, and you need to get some sleep" Wheein made her way towards the small walk-in wardrobe and pulled out a pillow.
"I can't stay. Ketchup is alone, I need to feed him and- "
"Unnie, honey, Ketchup will be fine! We all know him. He has probably turned all of the kitchen cupboards you own over and found enough to keep himself entertained. Besides you keep his food near his bowl. How many times has he ripped the package to eat into oblivion?" said Hyejin and looked at Wheein for support.
"Hyejinie is right, Unnie. You seem tired. Get some sleep. Please"
A guitar riff melody came from the other room startling everybody. Hyejin went to get it and motioned to Wheein to keep quiet because it was a work call.
"Ahn Hyejin. Who am I speaking to? ... No, you are going to listen. I've had enough of you and your boss. Strauder knows damn well what he has to do. I took this case when everyone else turned you down. I vouched for you. I talked to the judge and even managed to get the case adjourned. The only thing you had to do was find me some evidence that their witness was lying! I've put my career on the line for this, and what did I get? A troubled twenty-year-old acting as a preschooler with no self-control or respect for others, who thinks he can get away with anything because Daddy will be there to pay? The case was closed. You asked me to use my connections to reopen it. If you want me to take this to the courtroom again and get the boy another sentence you better start working and find me some sort of evidence to support your claims! Because I'm damn sure the prosecutors have at least one more well-paid witness willing to testify! They will do it again! You know they will. And I won't embarrass myself or my firm in court, again, unless you give me something solid. You have 4 days left. If you want your boy out, you better start moving." Hyejin sighed deeply and threw her phone on the couch. "Anyway. Food. Me needs a cupcake"
