Byul needed to calm down. Why did it all feel so real? She was in her bed. In the hotel room. Everything was the way she left it. It was indeed a dream. Then why did she keep holding her neck? That pain in her soul felt very real. Like she was the one who lost the girl. What the hell was this? She stood up slowly and sat on the bed. Her hand slid slowly down her neck. She ran to the bathroom. Su-Jin was not there. She must have left. Byul thought and looked at herself in the mirror. There was no blood, no scar. Her skin looked the same. She touched it again. This was the first time she had ever had such a realistic dream. Maybe she drank too much? Maybe the alcohol was not of good quality? Did Su-Jin slip something in her drink? ... No. All of it sounded improbable. She needed to take a shower and try to focus on her present, forget it ever happened. It must have been a bad dream ... right? She needed to stop. There were way too many other things to deal with right now. She glanced at her neck in the mirror one more time, then shook her head and closed the bathroom door.
It was already morning outside. Probably around 8 am. Byul thought about going to the company after the shower, but she needed moral support if she'd have to deal with her father for a whole day. So right after the shower, she called her friend Seulgi.
" And she calls! Unnie, to what do I owe the pleasure?" - asked Seulgi.
" Aigo, you'd say I never call you." - said Moonbyul with a smile adjusting her clothes. "I wanna see you before going to work. Are you guys up for it?
" Some of us are up, others are under the- au, why are you hitting me? Byulie unnie, "Irene" hit me" - whines Seugli.
" Ahh, I'm interrupting breakfast then hahaha. Call me when you're done." - said Byul with a smile and hung up.
The drive to her company was long and boring. She should have asked the driver to take her, but this gave her the perfect opportunity to stay distracted and not think about her weird dream. She was still bothered by it. She thought about sharing with her friends, but maybe it wasn't that serious. After all, it was just a dream. Her phone rang and she connected the bluetooth to her car.
" Hey beautiful! " said Su-Jin. "Miss me?"
" Always," said Byul with a smile. "What's up? You wanna see me so soon?"
" Omo, I already told you. You're too good at this. I've had enough. I need to rest for a few hours." the girl said pretending to be annoyed. Byul chuckled.
" I wanted to suggest something.. nefarious. I think I figured out a way to piss off Daddy."
" Please don't call him that. It sounds nauseating."
Su-Jin laughed. " Okay, listen. There's this charity thing coming up. My roommate's boyfriend is part of the staff and he spilled lots of business people will attend. Your father will definitely be there because all the big shots are invited. So, you can make a move. Something he wouldn't expect."
" Mhmm, I'm listening."
" You know what they usually do - rich people bid on other rich people, so they can go to dinner with them, then they give the money to charity bla bla bla? You must know. What if you sign up for it? - suggested Su-Jin clearly eating something. " Sorry, I'm having breakfast on the go."
"No, problem. I'm sure he had already signed me up. Father is fast with things like this." Byul said annoyed, then steered her car to the left, getting pissed at the guy with the big jeep, who tried to cut her off. " Okay, and how would signing up help me?"
" Well, you have connections in those circles, what if we make it so only women are betting on you? I can call my friends from Uni. They're all future actresses. Daddy, won't see it coming. He'd be pissed. But it's not like it's your fault. You're just a woman magnet."
" ... Su-Jin, I might kiss you right now. You're a fucking genius. The men he's setting me up with would see that I'm definitely not interested in whatever it is they're offering. The women, on the other hand, would know I'm on the market. Father would be pissed but he won't be able to take it out on me! This is perfect. I'd fucking do anything you want right now."
" I have a few ideas but I'll call you later this week"
" Anything you want, I'm fucking serious. Thank you for saving my skin."
" We might be fuck buddies and all, but I really care about you, you know that? I can't sleep peacefully If I know you're in a miserable relationship with a dude, somewhere out there.."
" Thanks, Su-Jin. I know this is not a typical relationship, but I also really care about you, and I know you'd find someone who's going to love you the right way."
" Well... I might be on my way to finding them right now. I mean it's not official or anything, but there's this girl, the bartender, remember? She asked me on a date. And if things go well, you and I might see each other only as friends from next week."
" Ahhh, I'd hate to see you go, gotta admit," Byul said with a genuine smile, "but I'm happy you found someone. Where did you guys meet? If it's not a secret?" - asked Byul intrigued.
" A dating app. It's called Lovr. You can get it. It's not bad. Okay, I gotta go. I'm late. Make sure you organize your things so that the charity event goes smoothly. I'll take care of the girls. I gotta go for real."
" Thank you for everything. I mean it, Su-Jinah."
" Don't forget you still owe me "anything". One more time." - laughed Su-Jin and hung up.
Lovr. Moonbyul thought. She didn't go for dating apps. If she needed a girl she could always pick her up at a club. Dating apps were slow. And they needed too much information. Her lawyer would not be happy. That would mean she has to lie. And something that starts with a lie could never end well, right?
She finally arrived at her father's company. Her horrible day was about to begin. Maybe she could go home after work and sign up for the app, and use some thirst pics in order to get matches. Sliding into someone's DMs was fun. Now that she didn't have Su-Jin anymore, she could definitely go for someone new.
