Adam POV

I get home after the game and all I want to do is call y/n and tell her how it went. I walk up to the phone but I don't pick it up. I walk up the stairs and take a shower instead. I lay in my bed, wondering if should've done more. I did what I thought was best in the moment but maybe it wasn't. I roll over onto my side and try my best to fall asleep.

I get to school the next day, half expecting to see her in the halls, but I don't. I don't even see her at her locker. When the lunch bell rings, I catch up to Connie in the hallway.

"Connie!" I shout and she turns around.

"Hey Adam."

"Have you seen y/n today?" She shakes her head no. "Have you talked to her? I haven't seen her since she broke up with me on sun-"

"Wait what?" Connie ask, and Im confused.

"She broke up with me? Did she not tell you?" I ask

"No she didn't. She never said anything."

"Thats weird. Im worried about her. You know that party scooter threw? He said he found her in a room, all cut up."

"Did somebody do something to her?" Connie asks and we walk into the cafeteria.

"I don't know what, she wouldn't tell me what happened. She told me she wanted a break so I'm trying to give her space but connie. I'm worried something bad happened to her."

"Adam, get over here." Rick yells, and I sigh.

"If you see her or hear from her, please let me know Connie."

"Don't worry, I will."

"What do you want Rick."

"We heard about your break up." Mindy says, "we are sorry she did that to you."

"Mhm."

"We are having a little get together tonight, you're invited. Maybe somebody can help you get over y/n." Cole says and I just nod. I walk away, and go to y/ns locker. It doesn't have the lock on it so I open it.
'It's empty?' Her locker had been cleared out. I feel my chest tighten. 'Why would she clear out her locker?' I soeedwalk, almost jog back into the cafeteria and toward the table where everybody is seated.

"Connie her locker. Everything's gone." I say, panting, worried and confused because i don't know what happened to her stuff.

"What?" She gets up immediately and follows me back to her locker. When I open it to reveal nothing, she has a confused expression on her face. Julie, Ken, Guy and Dwayne followed us and we all look at eachother.

"Somethings wrong." I say, and I shut the locker.

"Did y/n tell any of you that she broke up with Adam?" Connie asks and Julie jaw drops.

"She did what?" Julie exclaims.

"No she never said a word. To think of it, she seemed numb at practice yesterday, she barely even spoke." Ken states and Dwayne nods.

"Something happened at scooters party, and she didn't want to tell me what." I say, trying to piece things together. I fidget with the bracelet she gave me before she left the first time.

"Maybe she's just sick or something?" Dwayne suggests, and I nod. 'Maybe she just needed some time, maybe she is sick.'

"Why don't you check and see if she's at the apartment? After school? You said your dad let you drive today." Connie wondered.

"Mhm, yeah I'll go there right after practice." I confirmed. "If any of you guys hear anything, and I mean anything, you tell me." I point to all of them and they all nod. I walk the opposite way of the cafeteria and push open the doors to outside. I walk down a couple steps and sit down. 'I should've made her tell me what was going on, I should have been a little more persistent.'

Practice whizzes by and I'm hurrying to get changed.

"Hey Banksie." Rick calls.

"Yeah?" I reply pulling up my pants.

"Are you going to come to our little get together tonight? If so, you need to come in through the side gate, right side of the house, by the garage."

"I'll think about it." I say nonchalantly. I grab my bag  and head out of the locker room. I basically run through the halls and out to my car. I throw on my seatbelt and pull out of the parking lot.

I turn onto her street and I don't see her car anywhere. I park in front of her building. I walk in and up to her floor. I knock on her door.

"Y/n?" I say, but I don't hear any movement. I knock a few more times and wait but when there's no answer, i walk away in defeat. 'I'll come back and try again.' I walk down the stairs and out of the building. I look up at her apartment balcony before getting into my car.

Not that I want to get over y/n, because I don't, I decide to go to the little get together, for something to do and just to take my mind off of things. I pull up to Ricks place. He said to come in through the side gate to the backyard. I walk down the narrow path and I see them all sitting around Ricks fire pit.

"Hey Adam." Mindy greets and waves me over. I sit in the empty chair beside her. She goes to hand me a drink but I wave her off.

"I've only got an hour, then I'm going home." I state, and she pouts. She puts her hand on my shoulder.

"That's not a lot of time for me to spend with you Banksie." She lightly drags her hand from my shoulder down. I panic and sort of just moved around in my chair and move it over a bit. She doesn't let up and just moves closer and I know there is no escaping it, so I accept the fact that she's going to hang around me all night.

The whole time that I'm there, I don't really talk to anybody. If they started talking to me first, I would answer but I didn't initiate anything. After an hour, I told Rick that I was heading out.

I walk along the narrow path towards the side gate

"Leaving so soon?" I turn around to see Mindy.

"Yeah, I've got stuff to do. See you at school tomorrow Mindy." I try to end the conversation there but she continues it.

"Wait, I'm throwing a party this Friday, my parents are gone. I want you to come." I stare blankly at her.

"Yeah maybe." I open the gate and close it behind me, ending the conversation.
