Winston had always sensed that something was off about Ape King, and he noticed a significant change in Ape King's behavior over the last ten years.

It wasn't the first time attempts to kill had been made on his life. Many had tried, but none had succeeded.

However, over the past couple of years, the frequency of these attempts seemed to be increasing, especially after he upgraded to four stripes.

Winston couldn't quite fathom why this was happening. Were those who tried to attack him simply jealous of his strength?

But Engaging in a fight with a tetra-striped male like him was similar to a suicide mission.

It wasn't until that particular day that Winston realized it was, in fact, Ape King who was orchestrating these attempts on his life.

Three months ago, he had left to trade for salt. On his way back, he found himself under a massive attack.

At first, he believed that these ferals were attempting to abduct the females, but soon he realized that they were solely focused on him.

In an effort to draw the ferals away from the females, he led them far into the dense forest and engaged in a fierce battle.

Despite the odds stacked against him, facing third-striped and two-striped ferals, he fought with all his might and came victorious.

However, not without sustaining a grievous wound around his torso and being injected with poison during the fight.

He knew that a weak poison wouldn't kill him when he was healthy, but in his wounded state, his energy was drained.

He found himself unable to transform into his human form and could barely move. Exhausted and struggling to even chuff, he managed to sit under a tree.

In that moment, he heard a voice and footsteps approaching the area where he lay. Though another battle could cost him his life, he was prepared to fight if necessary.

However, what surprised him was the pleasant and sweet aroma that filled his nostrils.

His inability to move, the scent drew nearer. And then, he saw her - a woman he didn't recognize.. Her big hazel eyes gazed at him.

Little did he know, at that moment, that she would become his life, his strength, and his salvation in the days to come.

Although her initial appearance of fear, he quickly realized it wasn't due to his own appearance.

She had actually helped him during a hailstorm, prioritizing his protection over her own, sharing her water and even offering him her last piece of fruit.

This behavior was entirely new to him. He had never experienced a female who wasn't scared or mocking of him due to his appearance.

But she,Not only did she help him, but she also complimented his scar and provided words of comfort when he felt hopeless, giving him the strength to carry on.

In that moment, he fell in love with her.

From that point onward, he didn't care about her physical appearance, marked by scars or not. What truly mattered to him was her safety and happiness.

She had mentioned her eagerness to hear the story behind his scar, and for the first time, he felt a sense of pride regarding his scar.

He found himself looking forward to future conversations with her, grateful that he had a reason to connect with her.

Assuming she was lost in the wilderness, a situation quite unusual for a female without any mates around her, he guided her towards the nearest village.
