That made me stop my breath for a moment and actually look at him.

Well, heavens, I unintentionally played the "Spot the Difference" game with Parker 2.0 here. One stripe on the cheek instead of two, but seriously, how can they be so identical?

I think I stared at him for too long. His confident stance is losing a bit, and his cheeks are taking on a tomato shade.

"Oh... I'm sorry," I finally squeak out.

He raises an eyebrow, eyes widening. He finally speaks,"It's fine, female. You seem to know my brother?" He paused, giving it a thought, and then throws in, "And you're not exactly on good terms with him?”

Good terms? That's nowhere near what I think about Parker.

Why the heck am I meeting all the side characters of the story? Mainly all the doppelgangers of the main characters.

I know in any context they're not side characters in their lives, and I shouldn't be thinking it this way.

Grabbing my thoughts, I ducked my head, staring at my toes for a moment, trying to control my thoughts. When I looked up, he was waiting for my answers.

"Yeah, we're actually not on good terms.”

"And why is that?" he asked, staring right at my face. Though his eyes kept wandering to my nose, ears, and lips.

Dude, at least don't be so obvious while sizing me up.

"That's a long story.”I sighed.

“Does that involve a love story where you're head over heels for him, but he's playing hard to get?" he narrated, adding his own twist.

"What...?" I burst into laughter, loud enough to practically snatch everyone's attention.

I mean, a lot of attention.

Harper turned around, emitting a growl that made people turn away. Prince status, huh? Even those more stripey than him bowed to his growl.

Still grinning, I shook my head. "No, more like  Parker drives me up the wall, and I might toss him into a volcano”

His eyebrows scrunched up as he thought about something. "He misbehaved with you?”

I nodded, our eyes locking. My gaze wandered over his leopard features – the ears  on his head, a tail swaying more than a ship in rough waters, and hands fidgeting with unseen worries.

There was an unexpected nervous energy to him, a stark contrast to Parker's arrogance. And oh, his voice, an identical echo to Parker's but carrying a unique depth.

My attention shifted to Harper's golden eyes, familiar yet brighter and full of life than Parker's.

Beneath that vitality, though, lurked a shadow of sadness.

"Don't look at me like that," he whispered, his voice lowering.

"Like what?" I responded, maintaining my gaze.

With a negative shake of his head, He took a deep breath, his golden eyes exploring the hazel depths of my own.

“Female, you must be hungry," he steered the conversation away.

But I wasn't one to drop topics, especially when emotions flickered across his eyes, emotions I recognized all too well.

"I am. Can I get some fruits?" I said.
