Smiling, you opened your eyes. You had sent the letter to your dad the night before, and you were hopeful for his response.

So you got out of bed, and threw on your uniform. As you made your way to your bathroom, you heard a pecking on your window.

You turned around, eager to see if your owl had arrived, and raced to the window to open it.

Still smiling, you watched as your owl hopped onto your desk and dropped the letter.

To Y/n Y/l/n

He didn't put a name, but you recognized your father's handwriting.

You grabbed the envelope and slid your fingers under the seal, but as you were about to lift it, you paused.

Should I wait for Draco?

After a minute of thinking about it, you set the letter down.

You audibly huffed before jogging back to your bathroom to do your makeup and hair.

As you walked into the Great Hall for breakfast, you scanned the Slytherin table for Draco. Noticing where he was sitting, you stepped over and sat next to him.

You placed your chin strategically on his shoulder, so you could whisper in his ear. "My dad sent me a letter back."

You watched a grin take over his face as he turned to you, and you removed your chin from his shoulder as he spoke. "Really? What'd he say?"

You shrugged.

"You haven't read it, Y/n!?"

"Well, I wanted to wait for you to open it. How about after dinner, in the Commons?"

"Sure. See you in Defense." And at your nod, he stood up, sending you a quick wink before sauntering off with Nott and Zabini.

You sighed, eating a few bites of pancakes before giving up on food for the morning. Who likes pancakes anyways? Waffles are way better.

As you walked by, you flicked Kylie's head, causing her to glare at you before continuing her conversation with Daphne and Pansy, leaning in to prevent others from hearing.

These people. You rolled your eyes and headed out of the Great Hall, and towards Defense Against the Dark Arts.

You had just finished dinner, and were sitting in the Common Room, gripping your dad's letter in your hands.

You'd been waiting there for almost 30 minutes for Draco, and Kylie joined you after about 10. She was now sitting in the armchair across from you silently.

15 more minutes passed with no sign of Malfoy.

"Maybe he forgot?" Kylie suggested comfortingly, reaching across the coffee table to touch your knee.

You shook your head. "No, this is too important for him to just... forget," You almost whispered, your gaze never leaving the sealed envelope.

"How about, if after 5 more minutes he's still not here, you open it without him?" Kylie asked, moving to the couch to sit next to you rather than across.

After a moment of hesitation, you nodded. If Draco can't be bothered to show up on time, then he has no right to get angry that she opened it without him. After all, they waited for 50 minutes.

5 more minutes passed, and there was still no Draco. You took a deep breath, taking one last glance at the door, then slid open the seal.

Y/n.

I am deeply offended that you could ask for such a thing! Don't you want to see me? Your dad?

You stood up and started pacing while reading, unable to sit still.

Of course you would ask for this, though, because you've always been a coward. Scared of being punished. Well, here I am telling you no. You may not stay at that awful school for magical idiots. They have corrupted you.

You know very well what I normally do for punishment. However, I have been holding out on you. You have yet to experience real punishment. As soon as you get back, you will receive actual discipline. What I have done before is nothing compared to what will come.

I don't understand what this school has that I don't? They are ruining you. The whole school is corrupt. I should pull you out right now! Nobody there actually wants you to stay anyways. They're only saying that out of politeness.

See you soon. Don't try to run off.

Your Father.

At the end of the letter, tears were threatening to spill from your eyes, and your heartbeat was speeding up. You turned to head out of the Slytherin Rooms, but the door was already opening.

Draco stepped into the room backwards, laughing, then whipped around. You could read the anger in his eyes, which quickly turned to hurt, which then transformed into concern.

He turned back to his group, and shouted, "Okay, out." They didn't move. "Out! GET OUT!"

He turned to Kylie and motioned towards the girls' dorms as the boys raced upstairs to their own. "You too!"

And as she turned away, he stepped over to you.
