You've been avoiding Draco since he witnessed your panic attack. You knew he wouldn't see you the same, and you didn't want to deal with the pity looks that he would send.

But you barely had a choice, it seemed, because as you were sitting on the train, headed towards the station, he walked into your sector.

"Y/n. Are you okay?" There was that pity. You nodded, but Draco didn't seem convinced. "Are you sure? You look drained."

You glared at him and snapped back. "I'm fine, Malfoy. Just leave me be."

His brows furrowed at the use of his last name, and he took a step back. "Um, okay. Later, Y/n."

You continued to ignore him, turning to the window while the train rolled along the tracks.

You climbed onto Platform 9 ¾, and took a deep breath before heading to find your dad. As you prepared to run your trolley into the brick wall, zooming into the muggle world, you felt a hand on your shoulder.

"Bye, Y/n." It was Draco. "See you in a few weeks."

And before you could respond, he had turned and left, joining his parents.

You sighed and jogged for the wall, feeling the unusual sense of queasiness that came with the portal.

As soon as you were in the muggle world, you were embraced rather quickly, and you flinched.

"What, are you not excited to see your own father?" The hugger questioned.

No. You thought, but you didn't say that out loud. Instead, you replied, "Of course I am, you just surprised me."

"Well, good. Let's get going now, The plan is for your punishment to start at 6."

Well. I'm doomed. You'd hoped he forgot, but it seemed you had no such luck. You looked at your watch. 5:47. Your best bet would be to deal with the discipline, then lock yourself in your room as soon as you get the chance.

You sighed, slightly shaking as you made your way to your father's beat-up Chevy. Sitting in the backseat (your father would kill you if you attempted to sit shotgun), you pulled out a quill and parchment, attempting to write a note while on the shaky ride.

Draco,

I know I kinda messed up, and I'm sorry. If you would still like to be friends with me, send a letter to my address (below). Also, if I can convince my dad about the beach, am I still welcome? I'd like to not stay here all winter break.

I know I'm kind of a crappy friend, but if you could find it in your heart to forgive me for ignoring you, I'd love to try again.

From Y/n.

You handed your folded letter to your owl and allowed your owl to fly out when you opened the door to get out.

You glanced at your watch again. 5:59. Well, this'll be fun.

You stepped into the house, following your father, and watched as the glint in his eyes appeared, the evil glint that was always there during your punishments.

"I, uh, am going to go put my bags in my room, I'll be right back."

You rushed out of the living room, throwing your bags into your bedroom and shutting the door.

Should I go out? Or should I take my chance to hide? You decided on the latter, locking the door and laying on your rickety bed to go to sleep.

A loud noise jolted you awake, and you sat up with a start. There was another bang, and your door shook.

"GET UP, YOU LAZY BRAT, AND STOP HIDING!! YOU ARE A COWARD WHO DOESN'T DESERVE TO LIVE!"

Your father's voice boomed through the door, and you flinched as he banged against it again.

"YOU REALLY THOUGHT YOU COULD GET AWAY FROM ME?? WELL A LOCKED DOOR WON'T STOP ME!"

Bang. You shivered, pulling your blanket around you. Your owl pecked on your window.

Bang. You opened the window to let her in, and shakingly opened the envelope she held.

Bang.

Y/n,

Of course you can come! We're leaving in a few days. Just stop by Malfoy Manor, and we'll get it situated. Here's the address

Draco.

Bang. The floor creaked, and you made one last desperate attempt, grabbing the letter, your wand, and a jacket before jumping towards the window.

BANG! The door flew open, and as you climbed out the window, a hand grabbed your arm. You threw your items out, so they were available when you finally escaped.

"You greedy little BRAT!!" Your father shouted, yanking on your wrist.

He kicked your shin, causing you to fall, then proceeded to knee your ribs on the way down. He reached to the floor, grabbing your hair, and pulled it up quickly.

You screamed, tears flowing down your face. You knew better at this point to not protest, or else he'd enjoy the experience more, but you couldn't take much.

He slapped you hard on the cheek, but realized you didn't flinch, and tried again, punching you straight in the eye.

You cried out, and he dropped you, kicking your stomach.

"I'll be back in 5 minutes. I need a beer. Don't you dare try to leave."

You waited to hear the hiss of a beer opening, and the TV turning on, before rushing to your window again, gasping for breath, and nearly unable to see through the tears and black eye.

As you grabbed your things off the grass, you stumbled and fell to your knees. But you quickly stood back up when you heard your dad scream your name.

"Y/N Y/L/N!!"

And you bolted away, using a directional spell to show you how to get to Malfoy Manor.

3 hours later, and you limped onto the Malfoy's porch. You rang the doorbell and waited, trembling from fear, anxiety, and cold.

Finally, the black door opened, a tiny house-elf standing behind it.

"Well, hello! Can I help you?" You guessed that the elf was unable to see your bruises in the dark.

"F-find Draco, please..." You started, barely able to stay conscious.

"Oh, yes! He told me a friend might be coming. What's your name?"

"Y-Y/n. Help, p-please."

A look of concern crossed the elf's face, and you stumbled to one side, gasping and gripping the side of the porch.

"Oh, okay, well the Malfoys aren't home at the moment, but I'll send word for them to come. Why don't you come in and sit down? You look unstable."

You nodded and took a step forward, but you couldn't take any more, and before you knew it, the world went black.
