As I look up,
All I can see is the dark sky.
I can't see the many stars
That should be there.
And I can barely spot the one or two
But there they are,
Hiding against the expanse
Of that dark night sky.
But they're so far away,
Far enough that I can't reach them.
And it seems to me that
I am trapped here,
In this cage,
Under the dark night sky.
I reach out my hand
To touch the sky,
To touch the light,
To touch the billions of stars
That live beyond the clouds.
But right now,
I only see the pitch-black night
That hides away its starry sky
And I can't reach it from here
Because it's just so far away.
