Now Playing: Get Used to It by Ricky Montgomery

---

"Hey Hunter.. you're not gonna sleep in the old auditorium again tonight.. right?" You ask, walking up to him.

"Well, I don't really know where else-"

"We can all stay at my house tonight." Gus says, looking at you, Amity, Willow and Hunter.

"My mom would kill me." Amity shakes her head. "Sorry."

"Can I invite my... sister?" You say, since legally Ophelia is your sister.

"You have a sister?" Willow asks.

"Ophelia, I live with her and her dads adopted me.. so-"

"Yeah." Gus nods.

"Y/N!" Ophelia rushes up to you, grabbing your arm. "I've been looking for you all day. We gotta get home."

"Hey, uh.." You glance at Gus and then back at Ophelia. "Do you wanna come stay at Gus' house? We're gonna plan for the Day of Unity and stuff.."

"I-" She pauses. "I wanna stay out of the Day of Unity stuff." She shakes her head. "But if you want to, I'm not stopping you." She puts a hand on your shoulder. "See ya later." She then rushes off without another word.

"Weird.. I'll text her later I guess." You shake your head.

"Thats okay!" Willow exclaims. "It'll be an Entrails thing." She smiles at the three of you, and you smile at her and Gus,

"Are you sure I can..?" Hunter asks, his voice breaking.

"Of course, dude." Gus reassures him, punching his shoulder lightly. "You need somewhere to stay where you can eat real food, no Hex Mix."

"Y/N?" He turns to you.

"Don't-" You pause. "The Day of Unity is more urgent than our two year old drama." You shake your head, although you still hate his guts. He's on the humans side, which is where you wanna be.

----

"And then she was totally pissed. I gotta admit it was kinda funny seeing Boscha mad though." Willow laughs, hugging a pillow while sitting on one of the floor mattresses set out in Gus' room. You, Willow and Gus all laugh.

"I had no idea your grade had so much drama." You sigh. "Titan, Boscha sounds like an ass."

"Well.." Willow shrugs.

"She is." Gus nods, swinging his legs back and forth on the edge of his bed.

"Hey Hunter, you good?" Willow asks, and Hunter looks up from the notebook he was writing very aggressively in from his mattress on the end.

"I just think maybe the Day of Unity is more important than your school drama." He shrugs.

"Chill, we can have fun for tonight." You add.

"Yeah, you don't have to constantly work." Gus nods.

"Whatever, you three have fun."

"You sound like a mom." You laugh.

"Not that any of us would know what that sounds like." Gus laughs.

"Gus!" You say through laughing and choking on air.

"I mean, he's right." Willow laughs.

"I mean.. yeah." You nod.

---

Eventually, Willow and Gus were asleep.

Eventually, you should be asleep.

"Hey, Y/N?" You hear suddenly, making you sit up on your mattress.

"Hm?"

"Can I show you something?" Hunter asks, reaching hesitantly into his bag. You can barely make out his silhouette in the darkness, but he's there.

"Yeah?"

"I know you're still mad at me.. and I don't really blame you at all." He mutters. "I guess I've realized what I did then was wrong. But this is something I wanted to give you the day after it happened." He hands you an envelope, and you cast a light spell to read it. Your name was spelled delicately across the envelope, and you gently tore it open.

"Dear, Siren

This isn't anything I'd ever expect to be saying to you, but I'm sorry for the way I treated you. It just felt like the best way to keep us both safe from him. Honestly, I really like being around you. I wish we had met under better circumstances. Maybe, if you wanted, we could hang out in secret sometime? Actually that probably isn't a good idea. Titan, I wish you could just join a coven or something. I know that's not really your speed, though. I don't know if you'll ever forgive how I acted, but maybe someday you will. Maybe someday we can be friends, for real this time. No more pretending, I do enough of that already.

L̶o̶v̶e̶ from, Goldie"

"I-" You start, but nothing else comes out.

"Just remember I wrote that when I was fourteen, so it's not-" You cut him off by hugging him, tightly. The dim light of your light spell lit up his face as you backed away, embarrassed.

"That doesn't mean I forgive you for how you've acted in general." You clarify.

"And I don't forgive you for being a bitch to me."

"Fair enough."

"Yeah.."

"Is this.. real?" You hold up the letter, then realizing how stupid that question sounds.

"Yeah.. I had a lot of mixed feelings at the time." He sighed. "I mean, even yesterday I was the same. The coven.. I don't know."

"I get what you mean." You nod.

"Y'know, you seem.. different.

"How so?"

"Well.. seeing you with your friends, at school.. It's.." He pauses, chewing on some thought.

"It's what?"

"I don't think I've ever gotten the chance to see the real you, is all." He shrugged.

"Well, you seem different too."

"I feel different." He laughs.

"Well.. even when we played flyer derby.." You wave a hand in the air. "You've changed, Goldie. In a good way."

"Yeah, you too, Siren." He laughed, and you did too.

"I'm gonna try and sleep." You mutter, not wanting to deal with the mixed emotions you had right now.

"Goodnight."

"Night." You lay down and pull the blanket over you. Before going to sleep, you grab your scroll and message Ophelia.

Y/N: Hey, I think Hunter and I might be friends again
