You wake up to a notification on your scroll, remembering your weird dream from last night.
It seemed so vivid..
Was it real?
You sit up, noticing you were the first one awake.
Wait, where's Hunter?
Whatever.
You check your scroll, opening Ophelia's message.
Ophelia: girlllll there's no way
Holy shit, last night was real.
Y/N: we'll see
You put your scroll away and quietly open the door, careful not to wake up Gus or Willow.
Wait, where's Gus?
Ugh.
You walk up to Willow's mattress and kneel down and tap her on the shoulder.
"Hey, psst, Willow?" You nudge her shoulder again.
"Hm?" She rubs her eyes and then looks up at you.
"Do you know where Hunter and Gus went?"
"Uh.." She sits up, looking around the room. "No, but we can look for them?"
"Okay." You nod. "I just don't know the house well, but I'm sure you do, so."
"Yeah." She grabs her glasses from Gus' cabinet and put them on her face. The two of you walk out the door and Willow leads you down the hallway.
"Sorry for waking you up.." You mutter.
"No, thats fine. You were up later than me anyways." She shrugs. You both walk into the kitchen, where you see Hunter and Gus both sitting on the floor.
"And I've just never thought about what I did wrong as the Golden Guard, y'know?"
"Hunter, I know it-" Gus pauses when he notices you and Willow. "Good morning."
"Hi." You wave awkwardly.
"Well, I'm going back to sleep for an hour. Goodnight." Gus proclaims, standing up and looking at Willow, doing the best friend's communicating silently thing.
"Me too. Night." Willow says, following Gus.
"Goodnight." You shrug, walking over to the counter Hunter was sitting by. He stood up awkwardly and leaned against the counter, rubbing his eyes. "Hi."
"Uh-" He pauses, staring at you for a second. "Hi."
"You okay?" You ask, and right as you did, Flapjack flew in from another room and sat on Hunter's head. You laugh a bit, smiling at the little bird.
"Well, yeah." He nods. "I guess I'm okay."
"You guess?" You lift yourself up to sit on the counter. "That doesn't sound great."
"I know.." He sighs, fiddling with his hands. Your palisman jumps on the counter and walks across it to you. "I'm just getting used to not being in the Emperor's Coven." He stares down at his wrist, running his hand over the coven sigil.
"I get that." You nod, petting your palisman.
"No, you don't."
"Well," You pause. "I don't entirely. I know it's like- way worse for you. But I spent the first thirteen years of my life thinking I was gonna become the next Emperor's Coven head, like Lillith was. You spent the first sixteen years of your life-" Hunter flinches a bit. "-thinking you being the Golden Guard was a good thing."
"Titan, this hurts me to say." He sighs. "You've been right the whole time, Y/N."
"Well, obviously." You pause. "About what?"
"About the Emperor's Coven!" He covers his face with his hands. "I thought I was doing the right thing this whole time, I-" He paused, moving his hands and staring back down at the sigil. "I guess sometimes I knew what I was doing was a little wrong, and I didn't care. Like, you-"
"This isn't about me." You cut him off before he can finish. "Don't worry about it. You were being brainwashed your whole life, that's.. that's not your fault." He stares at you for a second, and you stare down at your legs, swinging them back and forth against the counter.
"Thanks.."
"Hey, admitting the truth about how you feel is the first step to healing." You say, looking back at him, unsure of if you've listened to your own advice. "You're doing great."
"I never thought I'd hear you being nice to me again." He admits, looking at you.
"Well, I never thought I'd hear your voice at all ever again."
"I'm glad I played flyer derby with you guys." He mutters.
"I-" You pause. "I kind of am too.."
