Now Playing: My Heart is Buried In Venice by Ricky Montgomery

A/N: just now realizing that this book might be a little short lmao

Sometimes the school hallway was just too much.

It wasn't like this all the time, but sometimes the music in your headphones just wasn't loud enough to drown out the anxiety that could overcome you.

The bell, the people talking, yelling, running, the air feeling too hot, too thick, too heavy. Your chest started to squeeze in on itself, every breath becoming harder to take. You can feel the fabric of your uniform against your skin all too much, too tight, too itchy, too many folds and layers and seams. Your hair starts to feel like it doesn't belong on your head, your eyelids sticking just a little to much too your eyes. You feel uneven, it needs to be symmetrical, your feelings aren't even.

It hurts.

This happens a lot, it goes away.

Wait it out.

It goes away.

But it doesn't yet.

You feel tears stinging at your eyes slightly, you try to breathe in and out, in and out.. in.. and out...

It was too hard.

Fuck second period, it can wait.

You make your way out of the crowd of students in the hallway, fighting at the tears and praying to the Titan that this headache would pass. You let your feet carry you to the abandoned auditorium.

You rush to the edge of the old stage, sitting down and pulling out your scroll. You let yourself cry a bit, wiping the few tears falling. You put the volume of your music all the way up to distract you for a minute. You lay down, your legs dangling off the edge of the stage and your back pressed against the stage floor, your eyelids flutter shut by instinct.

'here we are, wasting our chances for the last time'

Focus on the music. Easy. You always do that.

Music.

'oh and when we go, I'll try not to be so slow'

Breathe in..

'skeletons, skeletons, what do we have here? hiding from the mirror'

Breathe out..

'say it once, say it twice. try to be nice'

Breathe..

'well let's not lose ourselves..'

Then something hits your arm.

"Y/N? Y/N?"

You take out your headphones, looking up at the witch Luz wanted you to find this morning, the one you didn't ever want to find.

"Hunter?" You sit up, rubbing the arm he had kicked. You squeeze your eyes shut, and tears start forming again. "Can you kick my other arm too?"

"What?"

"It's uneven.."

"No?"

"Titan, okay. It's fine." You shake yourself off, standing up and getting a better look at him, and his complection distracts you from your uneven arm pain.

What the hell happened to him?

"Are you okay?" You ask. He looks like a complete mess, which was kinda odd for him. He was in an old patched up blue cape, his flyer derby jersey, stained black pants and a grey bandana.

"Obviously I'm okay."

"Obviously." You deadpan.

"Are you?"

"I'm fine." You say a little too defensively.

"Um.."

"I'm missing second period, but uh- other than that I'm fine." You sigh. "The hell happened to you, though?" His eyes widen for a second, some look of fear passing over his face before he calms himself back down.

"Nothing that concerns you."

"Right.."

"You should get to second period."

"I'd rather be absent than late." You shrug.

"Right.."

"I'm just gonna.. stay in here until third I guess." You mutter, sitting down again and opening penstagram.

"Uh- alright." Hunter goes back to the wings of the stage, where there's clearly a lot of random shit piled up.

"Alright."

---

The bell finally screamed for third period, and you stood up, about to walk away.

"Hey.. Hunter?"

"Hm?"

"I don't know what's going on with you right now.. but uh.. good luck." You give him a super awkward thumbs up and then run off.

"I don't need luck.."

---

"Students, please join me in the gym for an important announcement." Principal Bump's voice sounded over the intercom.

"Uggghh." You groan, laying your head down on the desk.

"C'mon Y/N, at least it gets us out of class for a minute." Emira nudges your arm, and you get up reluctantly to follow her to the gym.

---

The announcement had included Adrian Graye Vernwoth trying to put Hexside students in covens, and Gus proving to be really freaking talented.

Sooo now you're stuck in the illusion.

How fun.

A/N: guys im fr struggling with writing this episode because my self insert is related to Adrian Graye and he's like their legal guardian and it's weird to write without that being canon lmfao- anyways so sorry for weird skips and stuff I just hate writing actual toh episodes into fics- it'll continue to the end of the episode in the next chapter anyways tho :)
