IT WAS FRIDAY NIGHT and I had just finished getting ready for my date with Sachiko so now, I just sat on my bed waiting for her.
I was extremely grateful that my parents were out. I didn't want to have to explain anything about this situation to them. It was all to complicated and I didn't know how I felt about it— I didn't even know if I wanted to feel anything regarding it. Plus, while my parents won't admit it, they're closeted homophobes.
It wasn't long till I heard the doorbell ring— signaling that she was here.
As I walked down the stairs my heart started racing. Even though I didn't want to go on this date I still felt nervously excited.
I've been on dates before— though that term should be used very loosely given the guys I went out with only wanted one thing from me. Something that I wasn't willing to give up.
I open the door and standing there is Sachiko. A bouquet of flowers in her hands and a black suit on. The suit hugged her curves in all the best ways possible—ways that had me licking my lips ever so slightly. She had left her platinum blonde hair down in her usual hair style and she only wore light makeup.
She smiled wide when she say me and said "you look delicious, little mouse."
"Little mouse? What's with that."
"It's your new nickname." She says shrugging "now, are you going to invite me in? These flowers will die without a vase."
I nod my head a step over to the side, gesturing for her to come in. I lead her to our kitchen which I then bend down and grab a vase. I fill it with water before setting it down on the counter. Sachiko gently places the flowers in it before reaching out her hand towards me. I ignore it and walk right past her and towards the door.
"So, where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."
Her chauffeur opens to door to the limo and we both crawl inside. It took me a second longer than her since I was wearing a dress and I didn't want to flash anyone.
The car ride was about thirty minutes long.
"Is this your house? If you think I'm going to——" she holds up her hand, silencing me.
"Please. Do you really think I have any issues hooking up with people?"
"That's a great thing to say to someone on your first date." I say, my eyes narrowing.
"Why do you care?" The door to the limo then opens and Sachiko slides gracefully out of the car. Reaching her hand out for me to take I take it with a scowl on my face.
Calling Sachiko's house a house was an understatement. It was one of the biggest mansions I've ever seen and was a million times nicer than mine. She leads me into her house, not stopping at any point inside, and directly to her backyard. She was walking so fast I didn't have the opportunity to look around.
We reach the backyard with a big pool. There was a little seating area in a pavilion on the end of it that had fairy lights everywhere. Food was set up on a decently sized table with fairy lights.
"I figured being at my house would be best. I doubt you'd want anyone to see us together."
She had a point. It would be disastrous if people saw us together.
"Then why do we have to be dressed so formally."
"Well, I just wanted to see you in a dress. You're legs look amazing by the way." She says with a wink. We walk towards the table and she pulls out a seat for me. I sit down and then she pushes the chair in. She then walks to the other end of the table. Two workers come out and begin to fill up our plates. I begin to protest because I can fill my own plate but one glare from Sachiko shuts me up.
"How did you come to be a part of the student council?" I say
"I'm good at gambling and I love to break people." She says with a shrug as if it's nothing "it was only natural."
"And you're okay with treating people like they're less than?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Because they're human beings?"
"It's simple. Every place you go there's going to be people on the top and those on the bottom. It's really just the way of life."
I nod my head. She was right in the fact that there will always be a hierarchy. Just the extent that it is at our school....with teenagers....is extreme. Like razors in shoes? It's inhumane. I don't think my feet had ever been in so much pain. Honestly, they still do hurt.
"Look, you don't have to agree— a lot of people don't. Even if I hypothetically wanted to change it there's nothing I could do. It's all up to Kirari at the end of the day."
"What would happen if her reign ended?"
"Are you interested in full-bloom?" She says with raised eyebrows before her lips fall into a smirk.
"Perhaps. I mean, if Rei weren't a house pet I highly doubt she would've tried to kill herself. So if we were to get rid of the system...." I narrow my eyes at her "if you know about full-bloom why haven't you told Kirari or tried to stop them?"
"Because I honestly don't care who's president when it comes down to it. I also highly doubt Kirari is clueless about full bloom. That girl knows everything that happens at the academy. Aoi thinks he has one over her but look who's on top. I doubt Kirari will be taken down—at least by full bloom." She tilts her head "for some reason he thinks with your and Mary's help he can take her down. But be warned you can't trust him. Now, enough of this. This is a date, isn't it?"
"Indeed it is."
