"Luca! Come on! We're gonna be late!" A boy with glasses yelled as he rushed out the door.
"Coming!" A blonde boy, known as Luca, yelled back as he finished his breakfast, wiping his mouth with his hands and rushed out, closing the door behind him.
Luca and the boy with glasses named Ike have been friends since secondary. They are now in their last year before they're going to college. Once Ike turned 17, Ike always stopped by Luca's for breakfast because Ike recently got his driver's license, so Luca let Ike drive him as practice even though he got his license too.
Ike and Luca made it just in time. They parted ways as they went into their own classroom. Luca was scrolling through TikTok as he waited for the teacher, his books already prepared on his desk. 2 minutes later, the teacher came in with a student with colourful hair. His lock of front hair looked like a banana.
"Students, we have a new one joining us today," The teacher started, gaining everyone's attention, "Would you like to introduce yourself?"
The student nodded. He stood in the middle and smiled, "Hello. I'm Shu Yamino. I know I came a little late since it's already the last semester, but I'll try to catch up!"
Luca Kaneshiro glanced at the new student, and Shu saw it. They shared eye contact as Shu smiled towards Luca. Luca's eyes widened slightly, and a tint of curiosity flowed over Luca.
"Alright, Shu. There are a few empty seats here, so pick whichever you like."
Shu nodded while Luca looked down as he flipped through the pages of his book, pretending to read it. He silently wished for Shu to sit beside him since it was empty.
"Hey."
Luca looked up as he turned his head, following the voice who called him. His sight laid a beautiful boy smiling at him brightly.
"I hope you don't mind me sitting here."
Luca was speechless. He wasn't shocked, yet he couldn't get a word out of his mouth. Was it because the new student is gorgeous to look at? Perhaps. But Luca wasn't the type to care about looks, yet there was something that had him hooked.
Luca had his mouth opened, "H-"
"Okay, class. Please turn your book to page 211. We have a lot to cover for this semester."
Shu and Luca immediately changed their attention to the teacher. Luca looked back at Shu, who was focusing on turning the pages. Luca sighed softly, a bit disappointed that he got interrupted. He flipped the book to page 211 and started focusing on the lesson when he heard his seatmate calling him.
"Hey, let's talk after class."
Luca stared at Shu, who had a smile plastered on his face. Unconsciously, Luca's lips curved up as he nodded to Shu. He then started to listen to the class again, eagerly waiting for it to finish.
"Okay, students. That's all for today. You may go to your next lesson."Everyone started getting up and carrying their books as they left the classroom, leaving Shu and Luca alone. Luca looked at Shu, who was picking up his books, ready to exit for the next period.
"Hey," Luca started.
Shu paused for a while as he averted his gaze to Luca, "Hey."
Luca paused, not knowing how to continue the conversation. He took a moment for himself as he tried to find the right words to say, "You ready to leave?"
Shu blinked his eyes as he nodded, "Yeah."
Luca smiled. He got up from his chair, took his books and looked back at Shu, "Great! I bet you wanna go to your locker, right? You seem to have a few books to put it in."
Shu got up from his chair, taking his books as he nodded, "Yeah."
"Alright then. Let's go!"
Luca ran out of the classroom as Shu followed. Luca asked for Shu's locker number as they walked around the hallway, looking for Shu's locker. Once they found it, Shu kept his books while taking out the ones for the next period. To their surprise, Shu's locker was beside Luca's, so Luca didn't have to go anywhere to keep his books.
"Right. You never told me your name," Shu started while leaning on his lockers, waiting for Luca.
"It's Luca. Luca Kaneshiro," Luca answered, trying to find one of the books he needed for his next period.
"Nice name."
"Thank you."
The conversation ended with that straightforward manner from those two. Shu didn't know what else to say, so he quietly waited for Luca even though they were not having the same period. For some reason, it wasn't awkward. The silence was more like they had been friends for so long that they barely had conversations left.
"Hey, Shu."
Shu tilted his head away from the locker, fixing his gesture as he spoke, "What's up?"
Luca closed his lockers, his hand hugging his books, "I like you, let's be great friends!"
Shu's eyes widened as he stared at Luca's genuine smile. A laugh escaped his mouth as he looked at Luca like some golden retriever, leaving Luca confused, "Yeah. Let's be great friends."
